Got a chuckle outta this. Not helpful. But funny.

I’ll assume no Geo album exists until this disappearing message can be located.

What do we think it'll sound like?

Classic Geo watery ambient texture stuff a la Land of the Sky?
Something closer to the hurdy gurdy industrial techno stuff he was playing on Avey's tour?
Feature-heavy collab-focused album like Stretching Songs for Spring/Meditations on Crime?

I think we can expect everything in Geo's wheelhouse on the record. Modular synths, hurdy gurdy, a couple tracks with drum machines/techno beats. Seems to have marimba based on one of those photos? Definitely excited.

I kinda always wondered what kind of stuff he got up to when dave and noah work on solo stuff. We've all seen him with an occasional opening slot on tour, but never proper solo tour/album cycle for himself.

there are screenshots on the discord

if Geo was just recording 2-3 days ago, would they realistically release that in 2 weeks? could possibly be something else

I think Geo's previous two tapes were both made ahead of some tour dates. Don't think he has an announced tour at this point but I did find this show that I haven't seen mentioned yet

Baltimore - April 11

Attorneys General is a project led by Matthew Byars. A formative experience for Byars as a listener was hearing the work of sound engineer Martin Swope of Mission of Burma on their seminal 1985 live record, The Horrible Truth About Burma, in which Swope, using a reel-to-reel tape machine, captured, looped, manipulated, and destroyed elements of the band’s sound in spontaneous and unexpected ways. Byars has adapted this approach to having three-four people (different players every time, mostly) generate utterly improvised sound through a mixing board he controls, which allows him to capture, loop, manipulate, and destroy the sounds they create. Results vary from the transcendent to the disastrous, but the inherent risk involved is, ultimately, the point. The player for this show will be Brian Weitz, aka Geologist of Animal Collective.

Agreed on that last point. Geo has something new going on. But nothing in those posts make it seem like an album is dropping April 5.

Why else would Drop of Sun go on the COA discord to signal something dropping on 4/5?

could be literally anything other than music that was recorded that same day

gator pools
new psycho actives v1 or v2
a different geo project
live recording
deakin something something

could be the geo music that they were just recording but immediately jumping to that conclusion and assuming it's a full album seems odd

Deakin finished recording the last takes of sleep cycle a week before he released. I dont think we should expect the same release cycle from Geo that we get from the band/the other boys. I wouldn't assume it is a solo album, but also wouldnt assume its not.

Definitely seems like too quick of a turnaround... however if they just do a digital drop on DOSed bandcamp and then put out a limited run of cassettes later on... maaaybe? Maybe it'll be a "single" from geo's album and the full thing will come out later in the year.

Does anyone have digital copies of the Person Pitch songs single versions? I’ve never heard them and am curious to see if I can spot the differences. If you have them available, please punch me!

Check out the new artist listed on the DOSed bandcamp
https://doseddoses.bandcamp.com/
Spoiler: show
Avey Tare x Superflower

Image

Seems like a weird title for Geo’s solo album but can’t wait!

Here is Superflower’s own music for reference

Preak in the event I get the tape next Friday I'll gift ya the avey files - I'm streaming "Preydator" and absolutely loving it (but not $10 for just that side of the ep loving it, so i get your pain)

Sounds cool. But big bummer if this is our April 5 release, since most of us won’t get to hear it any time soon. And gotta think it is.

I'm really over physical-exclusive releases but that instagram announcement says it won't be available digitally "for the time being," so hopefully it'll be a Day With The Homies kind of situation. either way the description of it they put up sounds really enticing.

I liked the new songs from his last tour but I really hope this ep goes in a different direction and explores new sounds etc. a limited release tape sounds perfect for that

Yeah I'm really impressed by the Superflower songs, what incredible melodies. I can hear the connections to Avey's folkier stuff and even to tour-opener Sham. It seems like Ashville is developing a cool, weird psych folk scene.
