Also, what's with that picture that says L.H.O.O.Q.?? Am I missing something?

is the parody of monalisa that duchamp made

Image

on instagram abby said that panda is man ray/lebeautemps, geo is duchamp/monalisa and avey is a manray collage

Cool, thanks! My museum curator fiance would be slapping me right now :/

So excited about the AC camp referring to the big Douche! Marcel was the man, og punk. LHOOQ phonetically sounds like the French "elle a chaud au cul" or "she's hot in the ass" aka she's randy as frick. All this excitement makes me hot in the butt :goatse: anticipating the album... not to mention how fee-nominal FloriDada is!!!!

Quoting the Rolling Stone interview:
wrote:
With this one we were just like in and out. No long buildups to get to it, no long outros. We talked about, like, our Ramones record.

I'd assume that there are either no transitions or that the transitions will be incredibly brief, and I might be in the minority in saying that that would be a welcome change. It could be the first album since Feels where you can put in on shuffle and it would hardly make a difference.

Floridada sounds light years better than Slasher Flicks from a production clarity standpoint, that's for sure.

Imagine if John Cale co-produced the entire album!

Feel the same on the this. I want to make sure I genuinely like it, and not just because I'm such a huge fan. That's a hard thing to do. The only negative thing I felt the first lesson was the flor flor flor part and the heavy synth tacked on there. I also wasn't sure if I liked the "wipe out" part.

I'd say it's a big advance that they included the lyrics because reading the lyrics over and over while listening to the song really is what sold it to me. I think they're on point, and there's some deeper shit here than most of the lyrics on CHz.

i kinda hate that they did 3 covers tho, because its gonna drive me crazy. I just ended up going with the avey one, it seems the most minimally evocative to me tbh. the other ones are super interesting with the fractal collage idea, but maybe they lose something of that minimalist vibe that the avey one has.

Also tho, them releasing 3 different versions like this... does kind of put a slight damper on how i feel about the release, I don't think people should buy all 3 tbh, it seems like they are trying to capitalize on fan collector mentality, its hard for me to justify the price personally, but I guess on its own each of the pieces of art do have a lot of merit to stand as their own thing, so I guess it is interesting in a different sense. I can see it both ways, but am definitely conflicted about that.

but beyond that, I am so glad to feel excited about an album release again

totally agree here, first listen i was very underwhelmed and confused. it really left a weird taste in my mouth, but now i really feel like this track is refreshing, after AC has pushed me and brought me to different places in life, i feel like im looking back and forward when listening to this track. I think its a very personal thing but i think someone might connect with this. Its a rare nostalgia of riding the bus in high school first really gettin into these guys

AC will always stick out like a sore thumb and thats what i've always liked about them, never subtle but always deep

this is true yeah, yeah like I said I can see it both ways, I guess as a way to give each member's contributions an equal importance, but still... they could have created a cover that incorporated them all into the same thing, there is a deliberate choice to make 3 different forward facing releases with different covers, which im not sure im totally on board with. I can see how its interesting on one hand, and i am not so into it on the other

I think the problem people with have with this album is just going to be personal pre-conceived notions. It's too easy to compare it to all the past work. Most people, even the fans, want some thing insanely new sounding, because that's something AC has been known to do album after album. CHz has been debated that it's more of an amalgamation of their catalog than a huge step forward. Sometimes we need to just clear our heads of the past thoughts and listen freely. I think that's what the dude' want, but they necessarily expect it.

had to go with Panda just because of the stairs. now questioning every decision ever made in life and thinking of cornpilling for Geo. no. stairs are good. stairs for the soul.

OK so SB was so right. the best way I can even describe Flora Father is yellow acid like some full sheet smiling sun. too much excitement first listen through to think anything of flora flora flora flora florida chorus. second listen "OK maybe a bit cheesy and repetitive, but this be some Strawberry Post Hz right here! but hmm still kind of gruyere that chorus be." by the third listen I dug. few hours later and I don't remember the last time I have replayed a song so many times. something so beautifully shattering about how simple this song is like when you realize that half of their stuff can be played with less than four chords. there's definitely some incredible layering in there (feel like I'm watching season 2 of AD during every listen), but it's kind of a relief to do away with the insane amount of layering on CHz. it feels right.

not sure about limited release of different covers. if the different covers are just a limited release then I wouldn't be surprised if they do some Hollindagain thing where they combine all the covers to make a single form second release cover.

could totally see a sixteen minute florida grass jam coming out of the yolk. would be tasty after five years without strawberry explosion.

Would be kind of neat if Cosplay was added to the live tour and faded into Floridada just because they have similar chord progressions(or atleast it sounds that way to me for the very first part of floridada).

To who was asking about drop of sun studios, I was thinking that the 7" might have been recorded there, but then someone pointed out that they just wrote and rehearsed there so I guess that's it.

I got up at 8:00am for class today and there was no news(nose news) about the new song so I just said oh well and hopped in the car. The second I check my phone again in class, the single was out, and I had to wait all through class before listening. When I finally got to my car and put this jam on, I looked in front of me and saw this

Image

just the back of a car through my windshield right?

Nothing special...RIGHT?!

ENHANCE AND ZOOM

Pretty sure this is a sign that I should get the Geo cover, or that this album is going to be very special.

I can't wait to try and tab this song out, because anytime I do figure out an AC song on guitar/piano, I am always blown away by how simple it is in terms of the chords. Often they manage to take either very common or simple chord progressions, and turn them into super intricate and interesting songs. I've only heard it twice so far and I feel like there is soo much more I have yet to pick up on. Bummed I didn't bring headphones to school today so I could listen more. Atleast my car speakers are bretty good!

Happy AC day everyone!

edit: also added a poll for anyone for which cover you got/want for fun. I know you still get all 3 with the sleeve.

can you make it possible to vote for more than 1? I bought multiple
