Just noticed throwin the round ball is their 7th most popular song on spotify right now. ive always been kinda curious why it wasn't more popular cus its so catchy, but it feels kinda random. anyone know if it was featured in a show or movie or something? very cool to see a danse/hollin era song in their top ten.

Good catch! When Feels came out the dudes mentioned a few times their shared love of Golden Tee, how they’d seek out arcades in Seattle with the game while recording with Scott Colburn there. Think Brian was the main proponent, maybe Dave.

Has anyone else heard the cover of Alsatian Darn by this pretty small Canadian artist Amaara? She’s only got 600 monthly listeners on Spotify but man that cover is great, super well put together reimagining of the song

Wow, that was nuts. Makes you really realize how genius those melodies are. Reminds me of that Rosalia Burial interpolation. Deep deep melodies in a pop context really hit massively. Amaara could rewire an entire demographic’s sensibilities covering AC’s catalog

Dang this is beautiful. Speaking of ac covers have you guys heard that lumineers-2011-stomp-clap-hey! ass cover of fireworks? Shit sucks so bad haha. Not to be a totally dismissive asshole, musically its not very bad but I just loathe this kind of vocal style

WHOA I had been looking for that Skeleton Me version of Fireworks for years! Couldn't remember the name of the band, just that there was a handheld live video of some band covering Fireworks with a female singer. The last time I saw it was probably when it was first uploaded! Thanks for bringing it back, it is indeed a great cover.

yeah np :] in case you or anyone is wondering about that band, they're really just Born Ruffians with a guest singer, whose name i sadly can't find. skeleton me is the name of a born ruffians song and presumably they just used it as a band name for this particular gig because they were collaborating with someone? idk it's a mystery i finally solved for myself the other day and thought i'd share my findings. listened to the first born ruffians album and couldn't really get into it unfortunately lmao, feels like the sort of pitchfork-core that isn't really going to be remembered and that's okay. happy to just continue thinking of them as "the band that did that unbelievable fireworks cover"

Roxette is the last song on Bug Mall side B, called "Blue Haired Babysitter" on bandcamp. Not sure why they renamed it
