Same here. I will never forget listening to that boot. I downloaded it not long after I got home from China, was unemployed, waiting to start my job in a few months, living with some girl in a shared house in a single bed. Ended up falling out with the housemates because she put one guy's car keys down the shitter. Terrible time all round except walking in the snow listening to those early Tomboy bootlegs and playing Street Fighter 4 to a very competent level, having been born and bred in the arcade scene of China and grew up with a bloody nose. Eurowanks did not know what hit them. Great song, Drone.

drone to me is a gimmick or like a sound-check or something. best-case scenario, its him being like 'fuk u' to anyone who wants another dancey pop song, and like i get that on some level, like having 4-5 min in a set thats just for panda himself, like thats probably not what it is but id get that. but as a song? lol no get outta here. its feels more like a meme than anything.

BUT i do respect ppl saying they genuinely like it. give me Scheherezade over that any day, tho theyre both bottom of the tom-barrel

I think for sure it was a challenge to himself to make a song with as few ingredients as possible but I still think there is heart to the song. I remember I skipped the boots for Tomboy but checked out every single one time. Super bold of Panda and I think it's a great song, especially live.

I wasn't thrilled at the potential of drone being played after seeing the eu setlists. But when he played it at the dallas show, it felt spiritual. I felt like somebody slipped me acid and it just kicked in. The strobes/visuals compounded with the sounds to make it truly amazing.

i mean what drone is trying to do is sick. maybe im not being totally serious when i dismiss it. like i can see it being huge and getting lost to it live under the right circumstances. idk im too cynical basically... ya sheherzade is almost as minimal/droney but obviously not as epic and huge sounding, potentially

Great meeting cool Nc folk at the show tonight. Geo's set has evolved so much since I caught him opening for Avey in Asheville. Panda was on point and the crowd was super dancey and into it. New stuff was absolutely massive and really got butts moving! Snagged the setlist too!

Setlist (As it was written):
Flight
I Know I Don't Know
Sabbath
Shepard Tone
Garage
Rob Frost
Instrumental
Home Free (Quick Trans Buoys)
Buoys
Math
Cosplay
Sunset
(Encore)
Dolphin
Token
Nod to the Folks

Do any of these boots contain Drone? It is one of my fave PB songs and he didn't play it in Boston :( From all accounts it is transcendental on this tour.

Just relistening to ODDSAC, realising that Screens fits in perfectly with these songs, would be so dope if he worked that into the set, maybe with a beat on top of it. It's not gonna happen but it's nice to fantasise hey

Anyone catch him in Europe? Just realized one of the gals from Pega Monstro was opening for him and they are magic. Hope they get the full band for the sung tongs shows

From the balcony, I saw Deakin in the audience during Geo’s set. A bunch of people walked by him but nobody seemed to recognize him.

I recognized him. I didn't really approach him during the set because he was probably interested in listening to the music and so was I tbh.

Funny story tho...

I was standing right behind where he and his lady friend came up and decided to stand. They are both very tall. They also did this thing where they stretched out all exaggeratedly to establish personal space. Again, tall. Basically I was so conflicted over having my spot and view of Geo's set be blocked by deakin.
I eventually moved tho.

Cats cradle show was awesome. Good vibes everywhere, avey in the crowd chillin. Not listening to any of the boots and being exposed to it all live for the first time was crazy.

A reworked Screens would fit perfectly with buoys and some of those other acousticy+electronic jams

did anyone rip this video? It's private now and I miss it. I dubbed it onto a cassette lol but that's not super useful. It's the part of the math/buoys soundboard recording from paris
