i’m very antsy to see if this orange is going to be the prevailing color palette of the album art. it is appropriate for fall, very Halloween, but I’ve gotten very attached to the style and palette of the press photo that came out with defeat. to me these songs have been overwhelmingly blue, purple, dark red, so going to the opposite end of the color wheel is going to take some adjustment

Orange is like, directly next to those colours on the wheel lmao

I feel like late September is not super far away.

And we should be getting a single in August, almost certainly, right?

I AM SO FUCKING EXCITED. I think about hearing studio Magicians from Baltimore almost every moment I’m awake.

Willie told me that the last 4-5 minutes of Magicians is some of his favorite AC stuff ever

Fired up a boot of Magicians recently. That’s an all time AC climax

This makes me very happy. Can ya ask him if the deak/avey harmony is as transcendental as in the boots?

Halloweeeeen!!!!!!!!! God damn. I like the stressing of the title as well. Gives it a lot to toy around with in a sense, and the sort of standard cadence to the syllable gives a really cool distinction between "isn't it" and "now"

Great album title and perfect time of year to release it. Defeat will sound really good in autumn. An epic AC album coming out in 10 weeks, life is good again!!

The title has really grown on me… in the 6 hours I’ve been aware of it. Besides the obvious connection to Time Skiffs, it feels like a maturated update to the problem set forth by their first record (Spirit is gone! Or is it us who has vanished?) and a modernly (read: subtly) psychedelic spin in the same vein as Twin Peaks season 3 (good call whoever first named that).

They’ve now put out 6 albums not on domino and 6 on domino. Idk i really like the mirror image of Spirit and Isn’t It Now? as album titles. They feel like siblings in a way. It’s like poetry, it rhymes

Very surreal that this era will be coming to a close soon.

We'll all be back in the dark again for the first time in 5+ years. How will I handle myself if I can't start pondering Isn't it Now 2? as soon as the sun rises on september 30th

It’s gonna be great. This whole era has been like having an itch in the centre of my back and I can’t quite reach it. I’ve more or less being listening to ONLY AC since Prester John was released, just because the band has constantly been on my mind. Can’t wait to find out what they do next. But also ready for the boys to leave my obsessive brain for a little bit.

I think about this every time something great gets released. "Great, now I have to wait ages for the next one." -- Zelda games, Animal Collective, movies in a series, etc etc.

ya there's a bunch of different european vinyl sites that have the same sorta thing

---

i've also been hoping this could be the last album on Domino. as much as it'd be cool to see AC revive Paw Tracks, just knowing where they're at in their lives it would make sense for them to stay on a major indie label. so i keep coming back to 4AD as being a good option -- they used to put out Deerhunter records which would be a likeminded band, and they've been putting out the Big Thief records, even letting them put out two LPs in 2019...

I'm starting a label. Maybe they could be my first and last signing. Take em back to the top. Stan Gordy Jr IV and my main man RUSTY. They'd never play a recorded song live again.

Wouldn't have thought of them as they're usually heavy on electronic artists, but ya I guess they had Grizzly Bear and OPN as well as Yves Tumor, so ya, why not AC? Yellow House has got to be the biggest outlier in their catalog.

But ya, AC on WARP would be incredible. Could even see them leaning into a more WARP-sound, heavier electronic influences, for their next cycle.

I feel like they're going to go all the way back to fully acoustic for the next album. No idea why, but it seems like it's an interesting place to go for them

between meeting of the waters, campfire songs, sung tongs, eucalyptus, and young prayer (and bonus - buoys) I hope they do not go back to acoustic guitar just because it’s been very played out for them. this era already feels stripped down a bit to me with the very “standard” drums, bass guitar, etc. want the next era to be wonky and synthetic
