I'd echo those sentiments, not only do I think this some of PB's best material, I also think it's some of his most accessible. Of course accessibility is a sliding scale, and when looked at in comparison with the rest of the entire Animal Collective discography, PB's solo material has always been fairly accessible. But the Grim Reaper songs in particular really feel like they do something really special. I'm very excited for this to come out.

idk, he's talking abt this guy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charon_(mythology) and cerberus the watchdog to hades. the 'noise annoys' part is just classic sb wordplay
Charon takes a coin for ferry service, so i guess sb and pbear used a candy coin, and distracted cerberus with kook cake so they could push their boat out onto those stygian pools (orpheus played his lyre to make cerberus chill out so he could get past, and herakles physically kicked his ass, i guess everyone has their own method)
fun fact: 2 of pluto's moons (pluto=hades) are kerberos (greek cerberus) and charon. pretty cool moons

If the album keeps the vocal style that the live show has, I can really see GR as an amalgamation of Panda's work. The spacey electronics of Tomboy, the sampled structure of Person Pitch, the emotional depth of Young Prayer, and the... the juxtaposition of styles in the self-titled.

^I like that Dyland. Almost like what the Seer was for Swans.
....so hopefully Grim Reaper is also 120 minutes long

i'm actually irritated by this sentiment really... as if you can't improve by staying still in some situations... or move forward while being frightened or move forward because you're frightened...

damn right

Hey Pete, love your work first of all (especially on Congratulations - one of my fave albums ever). It would be awesome if you wrote something for the back cover of Grim Reaper like you did for that album. I love reading your takes on each track (...."Laying in wait, but revealing a gateway. A Door. Consciousness aligns.") Anyway, can't wait to hear Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper!

I don't know if it's because of how hyped I am for this album or just because I'm getting old, but I can't dig any new music these days. The only thing I've really enjoyed this year so far is the Swans album.
I'm just waiting for the reaper.

haha the same here. and I dont even love all the songs on TBK. maybe
everybody - except for some unexceptional musicians - is waiting for the reaper.
