it's my favorite, probably. I also think it's a great culmination of what they'd been working up to

SJ wasn't my first (sung tongs was) and i still think it's not one of their top albums.

Hey Derek is about Noah's dog that died, right? It kind of makes me sad but I don't know if it should. Been listening to that one a lot too
#1 is a fan favorite, don't be silly.
I was one of the whiners posting about how "tame" and "toned down" strawberry jam sounded compared to the boots. the "kids scream" lyric previously sounded like "mousies!" in the live boot and was so random/funny.

I agree with this. #1 is a great song, but it happens to be surrounded by 8 other magnificent songs. I always want to skip it, and then the beat kicks in and I remember that it's really great

So far it sounds like a HCTI-esque take on Strawberry Jam. Really cool. Pretty unfamiliar with a lot of boots but what I've heard in the 07 era alone is great
Best pre-hz boot?

cuckoo cuckoo is an amazing song. might be their best song off that album.

Cuckoo cuckoo is nuts because the whole time the band stays in sync w that Lizst piano sample. like there's no steady tempo or anything but everything kind of orbits around that sample. which is kinda crazy considering how many different noises and shit they throw in there

Winter wonderland is such a singing in the car song. The kind where you tap along on the steering wheel and point to people and song to them as you pass them. That's that jam.

Winter Wonderland is great. It's pretty catchy and reminds me of the fun of tracking winter storms in the winter

I looooove Benfica. The swell of the crowd in the later half of the song is a really really nice touch when he utters the word "Win".

Benfica is great. Ha, I remember I got into an argument with someone on the subreddit over its lyrics

That boot was basically the first AC recording I got into, album or otherwise. I had a CD of it my brother burnt for me around the end of 2006 (it's actually longer than a CD allows so We Tigers was the last track on it and I never listened to the last three songs till ages after) but I didn't have any of their albums yet so I just listened to that all the time, as well as random songs I found on people's myspace pages. Hey Light and Fickle Cycle were a couple I remember finding that way.
That was a magical time. Nine years ago, wow!

Blows my mind (not a phrase I use often or with much love) that these guys have more music on the way for us. Like, holy shit

They're done recording right? When do you think we'll start seeing singles trickle out? Holiday season? You think they'll hold out for release for January or February or something?

I'd say probably January.
Holy hell though if it dropped this year. 2015 would be untouchable for decades to come

i went to the brooklyn flea record fair today on the williamsburg waterfront, and domino was there as usual. i picked up fall be kind 12" for $8, which was a great deal, but the even cooler news was that my friends who i went with asked the domino guy if he had sung tongs (they're not nerdy enough to know that album didn't come out on domino), and the guy said no he didnt have it but he thinks it's probably getting reissued next year. it wasn't really a super definitive statement or anything, but could be cool if some remasters/reissues are on the horizon!
