Just listened to sabbath for the first time. I feel like the studio version will be destructively beautiful
Last night I dreamt that buoys freebirded, and we were shocked to find out that it was recorded with american football-style drums and guitar, giving all the songs a laid back emo rock feel with the same vocals, melodies and samples. Dream me loved it lol

Trying really hard not to listen to the boots too much, but reading this got me too excited so I had to give it a try! Tweaked the tracklist though after listening to it once through:
Dolphin
Home Free
Buoys
Crescendo
I Know I Don't
Cranked
Sabbath
Woken
Calling In Sick

that last line on dolphin "to the eeeeeeend" would make for a nice and tidy closer to the album.
i'll echo how beautiful sabbath is. i hope he keeps the ascending melody that closes out the first chorus "wake uuu-uuu-UUUUU-Uuup" on the studio version but demoitis will probably kick me in the face there

^ soooo im actually looking forward to the demoitis of bouys release.....
Butt what I mean is I loved live Homies boots.... the high chorus in Nod, but totally fell for the album & production- the super processed vocals threw me & then it became its own beautiful beast.
I look forward to the studio versions on Bouys, they'll be their own thing with Pandas idiosyncrasies, just as the live boots end up all being unique to the night, the venue & performance... the flow of the setlist
Maybe I'm so removed from being able to see him live butt all the versions end up delivering different flavours I feel lucky to taste

Calling in Sick is my least favorite of the new tracks but I do agree it sounds like a song he would put last in the tracklist. It seems to me to lack the same dynamic movement as the other new tracks. Reminds me of Selfish Gene in that way.

for anyone who is a lazy fuck like me and hadn't listened to the bouy tracks yet just because i knew they were all spread out between multiple boots, some guy on the subreddit compiled all the tracks into one recording:
[soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/user-979661246/bouy[/soundcloud]
on first listen, woken is definitely the standout track for me, love that beat/sample

crescendo is so amazing
edit:super good mix. obv buoys is amazing but crescendo is actually a good opener. something abt that (when live) ear splitting sound if amazing as an intro. and calling in sick is a class A closer. only bad thing abt this mix is it doesnt play the full coming in sick. coming in sick as a closer would be perfect with the panda croons over disorted piano.
btw this was the firdst draft of this msg

Damnit! I wasn't going to listen to these boots this time. Then I heard the new material at Brooklyn Steel and couldn't help myself.
Thanks for posting this comp. Can't believe how much I love all these new songs. Can't wait to hear how he records this shit in studio.

Do we know if the live homies tracks are being rerecorded for the album? Is the live tracklist supposed to be the full album all the way through since it's called Panda bear plays BOUY?
Sorry if you guys already talked about this, I don't have time to read all 8 pages even though I'd like to

Not sure I understand the question, but Homies was an EP, Buoys is the new album, they’re separate things.

I don't think he rerecorded the Homies jams for the new album. PeteK came on here and said Bouys is 9 tracks which is the number of unreleased songs he's been playing

I see, that makes sense. Too bad though, Nod to the folks sounds so much better live

There also wasn't really a live tracklist since he played a pretty different setlist each night of this tour

Have only listened to that, I Know I Don't, and Buoys so may be getting ahead of myself, but I can see a similarity between this stuff and Down There. Similar album length, and not saying Noah's necessarily down or anything, but there's a real melancholy to these

I think it's gonna be on the other side, opening the record like it did for a bunch of these shows. My fave of the batch.

I'm expecting they'll announce this in line with the U.S Sung Tongs tour. Either right before or possibly during.
That's my guess.

You could be right. I didn't realize there was a South American leg after U.S.
I'm just thinking they announced Down There in July for an October release. I would guess Panda wants to get this one out by end of year to focus on AC in 2019.

I can't remember where exactly I read this, probably the sub (sorry for lack of source), but I think he told a fan it'd be out in September.

Good effort thanks Lucas.
I read rusty's website and it seems like he specializes in vocal production. Any speculation as to his level of involvement? Like did he just work on the vocals for this record, or the entire production. Seeing as it happened in Portugal, maybe Panda has as much of a credit in the production as he does?
The live tracks sound so wet what with the delay that a lot of the vocals have; I wonder if that was retained on the record or will it be wicked dry like homies....
