you really think people leave fan forums the moment the artist releases a track they dont like? this band has been making music for 16 years, please dont try and make us feel bad if dont love everything. this is the 3rd personal insult ive seen thrown to people who dont like it, its really creepy

If "nerdy" is a personal insult, what's "creepy"?

(also SPOILER: it goes on this inside spooky holy backwards/catchy riff and then when it stops and becomes normal and morphs into BARBARA ANN like nothing ever happened)

Maybe promos weren't sent out ahead of the release so they weren't able to queue it up in time. A lot of consideration can go into reviewing anything by an act with tenure and acclaim. There must be some motivation to be on the right side of history.

yeah maybe it didn't quite fit into their review schedule or something (just playing devil's advocate, I'm also kinda surprised they haven't reviewed it). maybe they're just gonna wait to review the next single or something. idk

Sometimes they wait until the music gets a video don't they? I remember it happening with something else released this year.

it wouldnt be too surprising if they maybe didnt particularly care for this track and will be wanting to review whatever one is being released next.

Having a negative opinion is one thing, but artlessly shitting on stuff is another. And I'm seeing a lot of that.

floridada seems like the most old-school sounding one, like some kind of crazy update on wwcar and grass where the rest of the album doesnt seem like that all rlly... lot of new vibes for them on this it seems.. those dj sets are rlly showing in the beats/rhythm department

Criticism really just varies from post to post. I personally have no problem with people saying certain AC songs suck or certain parts are shitty. Sometimes I sympathize, sometimes I don't. It's best when they go in depth and give reasons why they feel that way, but it's not necessary, just like how it's not necessary to give the reasons why you love certain songs.

However, negative opinions sometimes can have antagonistic undertones or can act as troll remarks just to get people riled up. Like the one guy who was implying some people were being dishonest when he saw how positive the feedback for Floridada was. That's really presumptious and somewhat ignorant to think that fans will love everything that the band releases. It's fine if you don't like the song, but don't assume that everyone is going to share your same sentiments. Opinions are opinions and they are best discussed with an opened mind.

it is bizarre how they've BNT'd 7 other songs this week tho.

It could actually be the inverse: they liked the track but that won't fit into the narrative they want to tell of AC not being as good anymore.

that doesnt really make sense. they gave "little fang" a BNT then the album a more middling review.

I don't think its the most likely answer or anything, but honestly with pitchfork who knows. I feel like so many of their reviews, at least of bigger names, are more about what they want to be seen liking.

Probably the umpteenth person to ask this but...
Listen as a single or wait for the album?
Do you get the feeling that as an album opener, is it more stand-alone like Peacebone and Leaf House or is it more in line with In the Flowers and Moonjock?
Obviously, its hard to tell without hearing the rest of the album...

My opinion is that I trust the band to tell me which song is ok to listen to without the whole album, and so if they want me to hear a single I'll listen to it. It definitely feels more standalone than other album openers which weren't released as singles.

i think the single might just suck compared to the rest of the album... for me at least. seems like a rlly energetic opener that sets a good tone but not somethin i wanna relisten to a lot

I'm betting on this. I bet pitchfork is tired of putting a Today's Supernatural video at the bottom of all the AC news posts

That would be my guess but it's probably on a band-by-band basis.

After marathoning Centipede, Slasher Flicks and PBVSGR I think I'm ready!

dang i dont get that vibe at all. I think it's a really strong track, and I disagree with the general conclusion that it's a pop song. It's catchy, but pop music doesnt have a corner on catchy. No matter how pop it is, it's a fucking weird song and I love it. I hope the album paces well and they're not all fast, but this song has me excited like it's 2007n and the boys just played House for the first time.

so psyched.

I really like the song a lot. The vocal delivery is insanely tight. I agree that all parts of the song seem to empower each other instead of being in contradiction like in a few songs on CHZ.

Its sooo refreshing to hear them make a song like this... So many artist at some point just fall off and never make anything good again, and I was praying that wasn't going to be the case with them! I swear these guys will be (are) the Beatles of our time. I feel like they will remain relevant with each album they make.
