I’m keeping my fingers crossed the boys will throw a soundboard our way on Bandcamp for a charity like they did back on the pw tour.

Interesting that so far Walker hasn’t been played. Maybe they’re keeping it an album-only thing

I’m going to record Pittsburgh and probably stand by the sound board (as long as there’s no assholes around).

i really wish the venues they played were more conducive settings for people to casually whip out a phone and record a show while still enjoying; they're usually in crowded standing venues with lots of moving around. i'm always v envious when i see them playing venues with seating. hazel robinson in 2021 looked like an awesome place to be, and it's not a surprise that we ended up with multiple full show recordings of that one. i'll be at the sayreville show but yeah tbh i just don't see myself being able to comfortably record it. will def get some vids to share

Probably only after time skiffs 2 drops.

couldn't disagree more, hate being confined into seated areas and usually those shows come with higher price tags. gimme a $30 GA show over that any day.
on another note though, this tour might be my least favorite that i've been to in the ~10 years of seeing them live. the new songs are fantastic, but the old ones kinda need to bring the energy to balance out their mellow TS2 tracks. for reverend green was so high energy when i saw them at desert daze, what the hell happened to that version? maybe i just got a little burned out of the old tracks that they've been playing since they've been featured heavily the last couple years.
not going to act like this tour sucks or anything, they sound amazing and so polished right now.

They were playing Walker back in 2019, it was called Appreciate back then.

I gotta go the opposite way here, Saturday was probably the best I've seen them. Granted I missed the PW tour but I really love the live versions of all the new songs. There's kind of a post-rock instrumental interplay that comes through that I really find myself missing on Skiffs. Sure it'sa more mellow vibe but they're playing tighter than ever for the most part.
It'd be cool if they introduced some other old tracks since it's mostly been the same but I thought the structure of the set in Brooklyn was really great, older songs to boost energy in all the right places and people seemd to be open to the new stuff.

I really like their merch this time. Picked me up a hoodie (the price tho...)! Only other AC clothing I've gotten is the PBVSGR shirt that my ex stole.

I'm ngl, the outdoor venue in North carolina, is probably the ideal place to see AC. Like knowing what i know abt them as ppl and what informed their work.. gotta see them while the insects sing their sex songs and the sun sets and shit!!

Sounds cool, when are they playing there?
I might do something stupid and drive to one of their next shows.. never done that before... I have the next few days off... Hmm

Yeah I meant this runaround. Feel like it’d have a lot more energy live with the new album version rather than Out There speed. But maybe Panda think it’s too much to do while drumming

Just got back from the Boston show...and...wow...
That was the best Animal Collective show I have seen in 14 years. (have been seeing them since 05)
The Crowd: was insane--so pumped, so full of dancing young people, so energizing--the boys seemed like they could really feel it.
The Sound: was fucking perfect (and waaaaaay better than the Mass MoCA show, which pales), and what shined through in such a huge way was Deakin's contributions on the keyboard. He is such an amazing musician and the tastiest, scaliest, licks he was licking all up and down my ear canals.
The Setlist: felt like their older days in that the firstr 6 songs were all new songs (Skiffs 1 and 2) and they settled deeply into that sound, stretching the outros and intros into such beautiful pieces of art themselves.
The Highlights: were when Prester John's ending chorus was belted so loud by the crowd, the energy of a single that I never knew it had. In The Flowers' drop! they figured out how to make it work since the 2021 tour. The intro to Broke Zodiac was incredibly blissful (though I wish it had been Gem and I). Avey's fully autotuned part in the end middle of Cherokee was such a great contrast to Josh's voice. The ending of Strung packed the biggest punch of the night, it was so much fun. And I absolutely love the ending of Genies and the groove they get into, and of course Dave and Noah's vocal interplay, the bread and butter of my orgasms.
Setlist attempt:
Cherokee
Soul Capturer
Genies
Prester John
Broke Zodiac
Car Keys
Dragon Slayer
Chores
Defeat
In The Flowers
Strung
Applesauce
encore
Kings
Stride Right
Purple Bottle

disappointing to hear that the moca sound was off compared to the paradise. but the setlist looks choice in boston, almost the full scope of songs between the both nights. envious.
oh man the reverend green vid is brining back some chills. they absolutely slay that song.

I talked to Dave about the seated show they did opening for Fleet Foxes at MPP and even he seemed disappointed. The only time I've seen them live seated where it worked was during the Sung Tongs tour, and even then people were boogying with their butts. I can't imagine preferring staying seated for an entire AC set...

Interesting, I was at both and thought the Mass MoCa sound was way better. Paradise was way too small for them and they were cranked up to an uncomfortable level. In multiple songs the high frequencies were loud to the point that they were sounding distorted and overwhelming the rest of the mix. There were feedback issues during L’Rain and Deakin was getting some feedback at the start of the show too. Granted I was in the right side of the crowd towards the merch table so maybe it sounded better in other parts of the venue. But I was covering my ears (forgot to grab earplugs) on multiple occasions because of how it sounded over there. my ears are still ringing today lol maybe I’m getting old fuck

Gotta say New Applesauce is the surprise hit for me. The energy as it washed over me live was just so unique and it was just so fuckin melancholic, when the song is already a rush of anxieties. It's just now hitting me and This skiff'd out version was like having a moment at a fireworks night down at the boardwalk by the shore or something. All the noise and blinking lights around you and you're just fucked up. This rendition is just so amazing.

I was right up front for Boston and it sounded incredible. Idk lol.
I second the skiffs applesauce being a hit. I really like what they’re doing with the “ripe and whole” bit, emphasizing the first beat really hard, it’s got a cool bounce now.

The bass knocked Deakin's keys over and they had to restart during the last part. Was some great banter in between.

Nice! Good to see you again. I also recorded but yours probably sounds better. Technical difficulties aside, it was a great show!! The back half is maybe the best I've ever heard them, and the crowd seemed really chill

okay my plan for the detroit show is to stand by the soundboard and record with my iPhone. voice notes recorder? or is there a better iPhone tool to record shows with?

yeah i was at that show and while i greatly enjoyed it because i am a die hard fan it was really clear that show wasn't hot for the crowd or the band. not saying they played like shit or anything, just the pw tour especially didn't fit in that context.

I too was at that show, and I agree. I remember being really excited that it was at MPP and felt just a bit disappointed. Not because the band didn't bring it, just felt underwhelming for some reason. Fleet Foxes were amazing though.
I too am wondering about the best way to record with an iPhone.. I know the quality won't be great, but I'm considering trying since there's been such a lack of boots this tour so far.

At the Boston show it occurred to me how ridiculous of a song Applesauce is--how many parts does it have?! like 10 different sections?? Not a huge fan of the song but enjoyed it live.
