Collected Animals

So, this will reveal me as a bit of an obsessive, but I just got my 2nd copy of the original CD of STGSTV in the mail. Got it for $15 on ebay, couldn't resist such a steal considering what I paid for my first copy.

Anyway, my question is: Does anybody know anything about multiple printings they did for that release? They are very similar, but definitely different printings. The one I just got has a darker, wider font that's harder to read, especially the "all songs copyright 2000" part. Also the Animal logo on the back bottom left corner is a sticker, whereas on my first copy, it's printed on the jacket.

I was just a little surprised that they would've sold enough copies to warrant a 2nd printing, and also, wasn't it a limited press in the first place? Any ideas?

no hard feelings though, i lucked out a few days ago and found a brand new copy of the vinyl reissue at a record store while visiting a friend. congrats on winning the CD

I really dont get how they sell so cheap??. Imo they should sell for 100$ or so. Theyre like extremely rare and the first album from one of the greatest bands of our time. Plus its a fantastic album songwise.

I dont get it, but i appreciate that i can get it for 40$ in europe so i digress

I don't have anything particularly rare, but owning Hollinndagain on CD is really cool. picked it up at other music in NYC, felt like I was stepping into history

Pretty awesome day for my collection.

After being refunded within 5 minutes of purchase for a copy of the temporarily out-of-print Merriweather Post Pavilion 2 weeks ago, I got pretty screwed by PayPal as I didn't actually get my money back until this past Monday.

Cut to today, I decided to check Amazon and lo and behold they had 3 copies of MPP in stock. Picked it up there and felt pretty good about it. After that I decided to check Discogs for the first time in forever and found a copy of The Purple Bottle/Polly 7" for $20!! Snagged that after some internal struggle (been trying to save money, I have a decent savings but miscellaneous expenses have been bogging me down).

TL;DR Finally got MPP on Vinyl (have all other major albums save for Hollinndagain/Crack Box), and snagged a copy of the rare (I think?) Purple Bottle 7" (the "Stevie Wonder Version", aka 1 of my all-time favorite songs)

That is pretty bizarre. I snagged a copy about 7 months ago for $13 on Amazon. Glad I did, although there is already some ringwear on my copy...oh well, at least I have a copy!

Yeah I got mine when Paw Tracks was having their AC blowout, it was $10 with free shipping lol that ebay listing totally shocked me

Huh. I recently picked up HCTI from Paw Tracks, and didn't even think about that! Glad I grabbed one.

Wait...Person Pitch is valuable? Is it only certain pressings? I got a copy years ago and never thought anything of it

I got my copy late last year second hand at a local store for $20, this is the first I've heard of it being rare

I'm sure it'll get pressed again. I remember spending $50 on Spirit at a time when it was out of print and seeing it get reissued a few months later and be on sale in store for $24

At any rate, it seems like I got into collecting AC's discography at the right time (8 months ago, when I got a better paying job hehe). Also, very glad I found a sealed copy of Spirit on vinyl in a hole in the wall record store a few hours from where I live while I was visiting a friend. Haven't seen many copies online since and at the moment there is one on Discogs for $825 (though I doubt anyone would pay anywhere near that amount).

Edit: I also think that the prices we're seeing for Person Pitch are placeholders, since it has gone (probably temporarily) out of print. While I was on the hunt for Merriweather Post Pavilion a few short weeks ago I saw quite a few copies priced at $100+ on Amazon/Ebay/etc.

Is PP getting rare now?

only anco album I don't have in some form is strawberry jam, but I want to save getting that for when I find/can afford a vinyl copy
