I don't want them to go silent again until Monday, just to announce that we won't get the album until months later

I bet the album will be released Monday but the only way to purchase a copy will be through Sky magazine onboard an international flight.

Maybe they'll do it like Panda's Crosswords EP? Release the digital version Monday and the physical will be out in say January?

Feel kinda bad for AC that people were able to get the artwork/tracklist from Shazam or w/e, since those are usually the first bit reveal. Or maybe they anticipated that and wanted people to find out the title/art that way...? idk. Would be weird, but so is streaming your album at an airport

in the tabs, lyrics, etc section you can find a link to our lyrics wiki and that has a fairly complete list of rarities, and in the live section we have tons of bootlegs which will contain all of the live rarities

Album will exist in .FLAC on the black box of plane purposely downed somewhere over the midwest Monday morning.

I am a little bit in the same boat but here goes:

Avey Tare's cousin posted on Instagram that the new AC album was playing on loop over the Baltimore airport PA. Avey Tare confirmed on Insta. CAers (StrangeClams?) got over there and recorded some of the songs from a bathroom. those recordings were posted online but were taken down.

some people Shazam'd the songs to get the track titles. other people used some kind of Sony version of Shazam and found a tracklist/cover art for a January 2016 AC album called "Painting With."

I'm sure I got some of that wrong but they did for real debut their new album over an airport PA.

That's basically all correct, plus the first single FloriDada is coming out Monday!

In five years Animal Collective are just gonna go to random people’s houses and play their new album in their front yards regardless of whether they want them there or not.

For those who are wondering whether this was intended or not (the whole Shazam/Track ID thing).

It has to be intentional. They intentionally played it at the airport as they knew it was a fairly obscure place to play it, probably to show exactly what the outcome ended up being.

People went to the airport > recorded song on cell phone > put it through Shazam/Track ID > obtained track listing and album

If they didn't want this, they wouldn't have put the album on loop or release the track info to those companies right?

That or I'm losing it

this is kind of cool the way theyre getting like secondary sources to put out information while still being mysterious/shadowy themselves, while like the collective we had to rely on shit like shazam to find the tracklist, and im into it. BUT, why just a single on monday? I think that would be slightly annoying in a way, like why not let it rip. im so ready to hear this whole thing with fresh ears in a way i havent heard a new ac release since mpp including solo shit (cept for down there i guess).... like idk, im just kinda hoping for the whole album at once. guess i could wait, but it rlly seemed like we were gonna get the whole thing at once. idk, guess 1 single would be fine tho..

I like they way they are kind of getting third parties to release hints and whatnot, kind of makes it more exciting. But I'm just getting anxious for an announcement or even a surprise release of a single, or hopefully more! I think if this gets drawn out like PBvGR, it would make the album more underwhelming then if it was just released in its entirety (on monday!!)

I've never been more excited to hear the sounds form the airport's mensroom...
