Deradoorian 'A Beautiful Woman'

This is cool, I wouldn't mind some kind of 3-part or maybe... 4-part harmony trickeries with her on the next AC album. That might not work in practice though lol

Btw listening to MPP stoned and guys eyes is the bomb. Something like that where they're weaving around each other's voices is what I was imagining. I mean she's definitely amazing at that shit because look at Dirty Projectors

She was unbelievable in Dirty Projectors. I could see her appearing on an AnCo EP perhaps.

Did anyone else notice that the child laughing sound at the start of DYSTW is also in Appy Halloween?

Here.

Dunno if anyone noticed it. It's undoubtedly the same sample. The same sample also appears in Laughing Gas by Neon Indian. Does anyone know the origin?

Probably a stock sound effect. I've heard it many times in other things.

Songs I associate with 'bad memories' are some of my closest friends

I was stuck on a 24 hour bus ride, couldn't sleep and was really hot and uncomfortable. Plus I wasn't getting along so well with a friend at the time. So I tried to drown everything out playing water curses way too loud through my headphones. Now I associate Street Flash in particular to that horrible atmosphere.
"Does anyone in here get inside fever " doesn't help me distance the song from the memory either

Sorry I'm being a negative Nancy, carry on!

Very seldom do I learn something from /r/animalcollective before I do from CA, but someone posted over there about how For Reverend Green could actually be in reference to the band's friend and (supposedly) former tour manager Brad Truax. He's the current bassist in Interpol and has released music under the name Reverend Green. http://www.reddit.com/r/AnimalCollectiv ... en/cs2rp6k

but maybe this is common knowledge already and I'm just out of the loop

maybe not common knowledge but a known thing yeah. i was wondering the other day if the lyrics are an inside jokey thing that reference shared experiences they had on tour?

Isn't he touring with Panda Bear? It would also make sense that he did that Interpol remix

I'm pretty sure he's saying "earth kin", as in the final version of the lyrics it seems like he's referencing Abby P. And by pretty sure I mesn I'm 99.99%

Bluish is a fantastic song, but the music video adds another layer to it. Like it takes the sounds and gives it a 3D feel to it. Beautiful song.

What do you peeps think of anco singles and 7"s?

I recently completed my collection of PB's Tomboy era singles, and they somehow give me a greater appreciation for the tracks. YCCOM and Tomboy are the most obvious, but I believe all the songs are mixed differently to their final album versions. those two I definitely prefer the single mix, YCCOM is more immediate and rewarding, and Tomboy is simpler and more pure I feel. Surfer's Hymn (my most recent purchase) isn't obviously different from the album but I still enjoy listening to it like this, maybe because I don't hear it much on its own? free from the context of the album? not sure.
Anyway I'm rambling now... what singles do you guys own? do you find yourselves favouring them over listening to full albums sometimes?

How often are singles different from the album versions? Is it only those Panda tunes?

I think Surfer's Hymn single is better, but prefer the album You Can Count On Me. Not sure if I've heard Tomboy

Oh yeah I have that in the Tomboy box set, I never gave it a really good listen though because the tracks are in a weird order. I like Scheherazade with the mercury man sample, and it's cool that Afterburner is called Bullseye

I've been getting into Tomboy recently. PBVSGR sort of "unlocked" the album for me. It's a great album to bike around to. I'm just now listening to the single mixes of the album and this is really cool. Friendship Bracelet especially is an improvement. And, this may just be because I'm used to the other order, but the order of the songs works surprisingly well for how random it seemed at first.

I think my favorites off of Tomboy (in general) are Benfica, Afterburner/Bullseye, and Surfer's Hymn.

it's much closer to the original concert order (although i'm not sure that exact sequence was ever used). drone is such a weird song to put in the middle of a record. also reminder that he changed bullseye's name because it was too alliterative with benfica in the album sequence

While I agree that MPP is amazing (and imo AC's best work), I find myself asking "Why is CHz so good?!" in 2015. I have this relationship with each of their records. I go back and listen and it's like the music makes much more sense with some distance from the release date. Truly forward music. I'm also astounded because so much of their material is written years before it is recorded. How do they consistently pull off this feat?!

CHz is growing huge on me right now. Moonjock is so good, the 4/4 parts actually sound like an alternate time signature because the 7/4 in the verses is so damn natural.

Even Father Time and Mercury Man don't sound so bad anymore.

Mercury Man is my favorite CHz song and I'll defend it to the death.

Father Time still hasn't grown on me that much though, but I do like the guitar in it.
