i came in too late to talk about the 2005 radio sesh version of good lovin' outside but the cow noise gets me every time....and the part with the hysterical laughing, it's magical
on the rome 2005 bootleg, they do it as an encore and someone in the audience starts mooing, mocking the song, it's awesome
i imagine geologist brings an actual cow on stage and slaps it causing it to moo while the other guys harmonize and stuff

Animal Collective are basically just our generation's Rush.

I mean that in terms of their popularity and relationship to the mainstream.

I made a thread about how AC would be remembered on the last CA and I think bands like Talking Heads and XTC would be good comparison points. They all had a devoted fanbase, occasionally brushed the mainstream and weren't afraid to experiment/change their sound up.
I think XTC are especially similar to AC because they both have long and prolific careers, with every album noticeably different, both have two main songwriters, even with the same ratio of songwriting duties. They even sound similar at points, English settlement for example. Just listen to melt the guns and it's nearly Africa, sounds so similar to AC.
Basically Animal Collective are the XTC of our generation.
