Sounds like Geo played the track from Desert Daze

Geo and Avey did Man of Oil together!
The set was similar to the Chicago show but slightly different. He played Me and the Bubble. There was one song I didn't recognize but I can post the setlist soon

Good show, Jeremy and Geo’s sets were both amazing. Some of Avey’s set was a little underwhelming (Selection of a place sounded atrocious imo) but other parts I thought were incredible. Saturdays and especially When You Left Me was some stunning shit

Listening to the Chicago show, yeah it definitely was
I really enjoyed Avey's performance although I'll agree that some songs hit harder than others. I wouldn't call Selection of a Place atrocious but I don't think the way he performs it is really playing to the song's strengths. The stretch from Ono Lemonade to The Aging Heart was fantastic

is the aging heart a new song or an official name for a Mothlight song?

I thought the show was so fun. Selection of a Place was pretty weird though. The backing track really clashed with the guitar and vocals so it sounded like he was singing way out of key. Curious to hear what it sounds like recorded in the boots.
It was fun to see Geo come out for Man of Oil. I haven't listened to the earlier boots so I'm also curious to hear how the song differs solo vs. with Geo. I couldn't help but think about how rare that live pairing was of just those two dudes. You might hear it in the boots, but when Brian came out for his solo set the crowd gave kind of a soft "wooo" but then he put the headlamp on and the crowd erupted haha.
Do we know what the deal with the new songs is? Were they written with the rest of the Eucalyptus material or are they newer? Has he talked about releasing another album/EP with some of that stuff? I feel like they have such a different energy.

Are the non-eucalyptus jams from Mothlight? Didn’t recognize any of the new songs, granted I didn’t listen to the whole boot. Also hoping if he tours with Panda in January I hope he retires eucalyptus stuff

Avey told me a few months back that the mothlight songs were a separate from the Eucalyptus album. Then I spoke them with him after the Chicago solo show and asked about the newer songs being recorded and he gave a big YES!
From there I followed up a week or so later on IG, and he stated he had more songs written that he won't be playing live . also, that these songs are going to be credited to him (a Avey solo)

In Avey's defense of selection of places ... First off , its not as easy to play that song the way we hear it on the album (specifically speaking of the guitar lines).. The live version is a slower, almost relaxing if you will and I believe that's the exact reason why too! Think of it as a breather. Its an 80 min solo show. That would be tough on any artist playing 80mins of classics, let alone introducing new material .. The Down there solo tour shows topped out at like 50 mins .. So hope that helps maybe put a different prospect of the song ..

Three of them (Eyes on Eyes, The Aging Heart and Sew Happy) are from the Mothlight show. The other three were debuted at the Chicago show

The middle section is anything but relaxing...That's the part everyone thinks is a mess. It just didn't work the way he did it live. The beginning and end were gorgeous.

the beginning was gorgeous. i started getting really excited, jumping up and down ready for that guitar riff to kick in but instead that incredibly dissonant spooky atmosphere kicked in and man was that weird. not bad, just disorienting
loved the show all in all. in pieces and when you left me were highlights for me. i haven't listened to much of the mothlight boot but i really dug the new stuff. excited for this boot to drop. was nyc taper there?

it sounded crazy and a bit different on the first boot too. i think its pretty clear it's a conscious choice.
he's like tweaking it/modulating it to make it way more intense/tense somehow instead of euphoric and sweet like that part is on album. we have the Euc version, the Rio negro version and now this one.. it's like the sad version of the Rio negro version since they both lack that dope guitar arping he does on record.... i kinda like it, way different effect than the sheer euphoria of the album's version.

When Jeremy initially walked out it took a few folks cheering for the crowd to realize who it was--similar to the Brian/ headlamp moment.
SoaP>In Pieces> Man of Oil had folks in the crowd crying- it was a really beautiful moment. I'm curious if anyone had seen that in this tour/ Avey+Kria or Down There tour.
Also, when Brian left the stage he smooshed Avey's hat on his head- was cute and endearing

When I saw him at Desert Daze, I had tears streaming during all of Man of Oil into When You Left Me and I definitely wasn't the only person in the crowd crying. He's just giving such incredibly raw, emotional performances on this tour. It was my first time seeing him solo and did not disappoint in the least. Between Eucalyptus and this new stuff he's playing live, I think Avey's hit a new peak.

I wonder if the upcoming NY show will have a different set list than the Bowery show. Seems kind of random that he's playing another NY show. I agree that a few of the quieter songs sounding a little off at the show but I gotta say I think some of his new stuff tops Eucalyptus for me. It had some of that energy I felt was missing from the album (though I get that album wasn't about having good beats or anything) but I enjoy when Avey goes that route like Down There had. That said it was a sweet show overall!

The Asheville show was great! Same story as the New York show, including Geikogist I think. Really solid performances, smooth transitions.

Wowowwow that was a great show. The stretch from Selection of a place to Man Of Oil was just incredible.
Also LMAO at the dude yelling “play my girls!” and Avey responding with “never heard of that one”

Show was absolutely excellent! New tunes sound great and the mothlight jams have been honed well. DEF agree that Selection to Man of Oil was something of delicate, intimate beauty.
Geo's set was a disorienting mind fuck of next level jams. Can't wait to hear the stuff if and when it's released.

Did he address the slightly odd Selection performance? Any changes?
