Would be so sick but theres no way theyre resurrecting that song as a full band lol.
I feel like bringing back any sample-based songs would have mixed results with the current setup, which is why im really psyched about them dipping into earlier territory or maybe resurrecting a chz era song. A deep cut like crimson would be extremely cool. Father time would work beautifully. I expect Grass to return.
I'm locking in these guesses for surprise old songs:
Bat you'll fly
Chocolate girl
Street Flash
Turn Into Something
If we get any of those, one of you owes me something

Minus Chocolate Girl plus Derek that was pretty much my exact list of hopes for the September tour

they played it on the chz tour a bunch and it sounded sick. better for that sound than the time skiffs sound would be i think

Those twinkly Deakin keys are what's making me crave it

Purple Bottle kind of scratches the same high energy itch I think and works better with this setup IMO, I think it's a huge step up from the CHZ tour version. I could actually see Fireworks coming back as the big closer instead of that or Brotherspot maybe but I don't know where else it would fit into the set with some of the longer new songs.

Ha I feel like I keep thinking of Fireworks as a long song because of the live versions but I just looked at the tracklist and the album version doesn't even crack 7 minutes lets make it work boys.

Been thinking about how it's criminal that they haven't done any Spirit songs with their current setup. It would fit so well. They could pull off a full Alvin Row if they wanted to (not just the abridged version from the painting with tour). Imagine Deakin playing all those twinkly piano parts..

Something I've been thinking about is that they've been in this set up for nearly 4 years and have already played around 10 or so old songs. With so many Skiffs 2 tracks still there's not really a chance they will switch things up too much, maybe an extra keyboard for Avey or a sampler for Panda or whatever but nothing like an SJ to MPP jump that has a major effect on the songs. I could actually only see additional instruments/gear opening up the possibility for other older songs.
So with that being said what's stopping them from mixing up setlist night to night and pulling out songs they've already done in 2019/2020? It's not how they've typically operated but if they know they can do Reverend Green with this set up why not throw it in to one show, maybe do banshee beat the next? Oh yeah we did Native Belle in 2019 why not do that one again? March will be the third tour with this setup and I want them to go full jam. Totally mixed up sets night to night. They've kind of been moving into this zone but I would love to see them bit a bit more spontaneous. They still have at least a full year but most likely more with this setup withe skiffs 2 not even recorded and the ready to play back catalog will only grow as long as they stick to the same on stage setup so lets mix it up.

Queen in my Pictures would have been sick during the Painting With tour, getting a dance remix like Bees did. De Soto De Son however I could see absolutely get a jazzy waltz rework this era.
i really really am itching and hoping either a song from Spirit makes the 2022 rollout, or that dave's version of turn into something becomes...something. it has potential to be the next big hype song after Brothersport's been gone for so long.

^Turn into Something I think would just replace Fickle Cycle if they don't keep that in rotation, as in a hype but semi deep-cut Feels track. Which itself I feel like replaced the slot Rev Green had in '19, even tho that's SJ.
Like will we get anymore SJ tracks or was Rev Green it for this era (IGNORE, UNSOLVED MYSTERIES WAS THE NEW REV GREEN) edit
only the eldritch god-beast behemoth king himself, FWX knows the answer to that. Will he be unleashed from his Stygian slumber? Do we even want that titan to be unchained?????? only Time (skiffs) will tell

New unsolved mysteries is good but the guitar is lacking. Like why the arpeggiation that so similar already to in the flowers and genie's? Why not play the actual guitar melody that's underneath the guitar samples in the studio version? Aside from that I love Avey's singing, pretty unique song of his

I believe he is playing the original guitar part, a lot more bare without the organ or acoustic guitar sample (allegedly from All together now by the B43TLES)
Im sort of uncertain as to what hidden melody you are talking about in unsolved mysteries. Do you mean my guitar part..the really pitched up chord progression?
Start on G for the first chord (oh look) then move your hands up in the same G position to the fifth fret for the second chord (that sweet boy) then move your hand in that position up to the seventh fret for the third chord but instead of baring the A string as you would for a G chord bar it on the seventh fret as well (his mother cried) then back down to the g position on the 5th fret (my child) and back to G for (his laces). This is the same progression for the "whats pain" part Does that make sense? Im definitely never going to be a guitar teacher. The "Where are the still unborn" chords are played in that 7th fret position but instead on the 12th fret ("where are the") and then moving to the 10th ("still unborn") but in half that time as the other parts (back and forth).
Thats basically what the song was like when i wrote it. Its the first song i ever wrote for AC in standard tuning. That basically how i hear the song everytime we play it so i cant really say if its hidden or not. Because the guitar part and the vocal melody go hand in hand for me once ive written it that way it usually doesnt change too drastically unless josh does somthing very dramatic to the chord change with his guitar part. There is also an organ part in the song which is more or less based on this guitar part but a little different...maybe thats what your talking about? In the live version its sort of offset so it changes before the guitar does at a certain point but i dont think it makes the melody that much different. I guess perspective is key here cause i dont hear the live version of UM as being very different from the recorded version at all.

I'm talking about the intro, the melody from 0:07-0:20. maybe it's not guitar but I think it is

Feel like Panda's drumming has been overall more reserved (obviously still incredibly tight) for the recent tours, but yeah the Native Belle pick gives me hope for more explosive percussion in March -- so in that vein my pie in the sky hope is for one of Slippi, April/Phantom, or Winter Wonderland

I noticed this too, and I have a theory it was very intentional, to make that arpeggiation almost a sort of AC leitmotif. or maybe they just really really like how it sounds lol

ya actually, nearly does seem like a 'leitmotif' in the sets where it happens 3 times! (the introductory arpeggiating)
I might dig that..

i dig the addition of the minor chord in the progression, though. pretty sure that wasn't there in the original recording?

Given the comparisons people are making between this material and stuff like Phish and the Dead, obviously the boys need to revamp their entire show structure. Let's get some wacky sandwiches going. Defeat > Two Sails On A Sound > Cherokee > Defeat lets goooooooooooo
Like they did with lablakely dress and essplode with fireworks. they can pull it off so well

My sandwiches of choice are:
Someday I'll Grow -> Dragon Slayer
Defeat (section 1) -> In The Singing Box -> Defeat (section 2 and 3)
Piggy Knows -> Native Belle -> Winter Wonderland
and On Delay... something... something. Just want them to Skiffinate that song pretty badly. Oh and Graze. And Father Time.

wow that list is really close to mine -- was gonna come here to say Singing Box earlier. On Delay as well -- I think this would work really well slowed down into a Skiffs style (Think kind of a similar baseline to the Scott Walker sample in Take Pills to replace the lead synth) -- could even go into a full band Take Pills but i'm pretty doubtful they'll ever do their solo stuff as a group anytime soon -- seemed like more of a necessity when it was done in the past.
Also SWE -> Flesh Canoe -> SWE maybe?? -- though that's another one that they may never touch bc awkward for bear and tare

my most far out probably-won't-happen wish is full band leaf house rework, let geo rip on gurdy and let panda go nuts on the kit!
