I saw Dan Deacon the other day here in New Orleans and Deakin from animal collective was there along with win butler from arcade fire. I guess the day before that show, Dan Deacon played a secret show with Deakin in city park here. I ended up missing it because I didn't find out anything about it until it was over. Is there anyone else on this board in Nola that knows anything else about this?

So if we combine the recent Return of the Fly with the #CAKE remix and New Psycho Actives, we already have a pretty sizable amount of quality material for this in-between era.
And of course those mixes help sweeten the wait too...

They did this secret show the day before, and from what I was told I'm under the impression that they played together. You totally should have man, it was a great show. Yeah he must have some connections here. Win Butler has been in town for a while doing small dj shows and just kicking it with people. He actually visits frequently, and will take part in second lines. He said he really likes it here.

I always thought Panda was doing lead vocals on Bluish until I switched over to good headphones... It's so weird how now it's obviously Avey...
My biggest problem with MPP is how their voices sound almost exactly the same sometimes.

I remember dave said they would do it purposefully in the Sung Tongs days. In Mouth Wooed Her one says "I need mouth" and the other would say "water"
It took me a long time to figure out who was who, especially before Person Pitch or SJ came out

If Slasher Flicks are starting up again, what does that mean for new Animal Collections?

I was wondering about that too. Maybe Jeremy just tagged Avey & Angel in that instagram for fun or something. I feel like the AC dudes have given several quotes about wanting to write/tour/record soon so I think it's safe to say that it'll happen soon enough

Listening to Hollind again for the first time... Pride and Fight is really fucking cool.
Edit: Actually... This whole album is bomb. The energy of Forest Gospel (straight up ODDSAC vibes), the sweetness of There's an Arrow, the evil of Tell it to the mountain... Love it... Cracking up at the people dissing them in the background. Kinda sad though.
reading your post made me want to give this album another chance. and i'm glad i did. pride and fight is pretty awesome. i just imagine a huge crowd of people chanting those lines and how intense that would be. honestly, i kind of pictured a hockey game. can you imagine being at a hockey game and the home team started chanting this to bring up morale? hahaha

I always wondered if Panda used a full seated kit just for this song. It sort of sounds like it to me, at least during the loud parts when he's playing the kick drum (tom?) on the off beats. I guess we have no way of knowing for sure. Are there any shots of him playing drums for this song in that SJ in-studio time lapse video?

There should be some shots of it in there. Also theres always the magic of overdubs to get that sound.

Fun discovery: "Slasher Flicks" sounds a thousand times better when pitched up an octave.

Either Dave or Brian posted about how Noah used a full kit on Winter Wonderland on the old board
Last time AC and Arto have worked together was that compilation song "In The City That Reads" from 2002.
I will be there. I will try and record the performance for you guys. Also, word is that Deakin is gonna be doing a Dj set or some kind of performance at Voodoo Lounge. I guess he's been living here in town. I sort of had this suspicion/ hope, that Animal Collective will get together and record their album here.

pretty sure this is the one you're referring to. Not a sample, but sounds very very similar
