It genuinely could be. Getting Mountain Game vibes from this.
i was just gonna say, ever since they dropped mountain game out of nowhere, the ceiling for what random one off stuff like this could be is really high and so this def piques my interest, hope it's a deep cut!

Love your optimism. Like Judas 10 minutes before Gethsemane.

Oh sheeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit we've got a little situation on our hands. I'd love an older deep cut or soul capturer (to clear space for everything else to fit on skiffs 2) but I actually reckon it'll be another low key and lovely ambient-y thing like brown thrasher.
Absolutely insane line-up on that compilation, good god.

my bet is on one of the TS2 tracks that doesn't fit the album.

I'd be pretty surprised if it is a TS-era song it feels weird to me to throw one of those off on a comp like this. My guess is something old that just didn't make the cut or another ambient thing. Would be really cool if it was like some Feels era thing or earlier. Hoping it's at least like an "actual song" but we'll see.

my gut is telling me it's gonna be a demo of some sorts. Maybe we'll finally hear the ark version of winter wonderland?

If the TS2 material is already mixed I could definitely see them picking out a song that doesn't fit with the rest, but maybe it's just wishful thinking

Did I dream that we already got this? Think it was something else actually. It was on one of the radio shows? An early My Girls instrumental or something?

This is coming out at 12:01 AM PT, 3:01 AM ET, 7:01 AM GMT
It says on the website the comp includes regular unreleased songs, as well as live versions, remixes and demos, so it could just be a live release of like Genie's Open or whatever, or like a Deakin remix, which would be cool but not really 'new'. Just to temper expectations... Ofc I hope it's something new new or a studio release

Also says it includes covers so that could be it too. Since it's credited as AC, I doubt it's a Deakin remix but you never know. Really hope it's something new new

Well I was just basing that on like the Phoenix or Bob Dylan remixes being credited as AC. But you're right, cover is a possibility. Could be just about anything. My big longshot hope is Soul Capturer like someone said above but very doubtful for such a heavy hitter

Yes and the last of these compilations in 2020 had deakin's remix of "There's No Goodbye Between Us" by plastic ono band, though that was credited as such so unlikely this time around

Kinda got meself worked up a bit there, but it does make sense that it's a demo. I agree I wish we got something new... TS2 being so far on the horizon is making me a bit delusional lol.

doesn't sound all that different from the studio version, a few different/early lyrics though so that's cool

Yeah I very much do not have $20 to spend on a Peacebone demo and a 1:30 long Dirty Projectors song...

I’m glad a previous demo was used for a comp instead of a new song. A previously unreleased song would have been better but I hope all the new songs are released in some animal collective-centric fashioned manner (it doesn’t really matter)

Hey guys love your stuff I just wanna know 2 things Are you guys ever going to do a tour much like sung tungs where you go back to a album like jam or ark and play it front to back ever again? And 2 Will you guys ever release more live albums of your early days or a album of demos?
u/anmlcollective:
Id say the first answer is mostly not for awhile. We had a great time doing that sung tongs tour but theres something about looking back in that way thats unsettling to us. theres always so much new stuff we want to work on.
and yes there will definitely be more live albums and unreleased stuff like demos coming your way.
hopefully more on the way

Sorry, despicable thing to say and untrue of course. I realised as soon as I'd said about spending $20 that it would also come off terribly because it's such an important cause but also... I am stupid broke and can't really afford anything nice atm...
