yeah i have no idea how long anyone's been here and i definitely don't care.
but in retrospect i do feel bad about making that post but only because it came across as mean i guess, when i meant it to be interpreted more light-heartedly. so... i'm sorry. i could have just said "i disagree with your opinion wholeheartedly -i find the tracks to have great definition- and i'm sure there is a whole lot else we can agree on". but that's kind of less fun.

i admit production-wise i am bothered by how loud the bass is sometimes though. i find it can take over the other sounds. i'd be pleased with them going back to more of a focus on the rest of the spectrum a la sung tongs ---> strawberry on the next release.

crikit, he's joking or at least exaggerating most of the time though, so don't take it too seriously!

after posting i figured (/hoped) he was just satirizing all the terrible chz reviews. but i wanted to be sincere anyways.

I don't know why I go back to this album so much. But each time I do something new emerges. This is a total fall record.

I don't think the songwriting on CHz is as good as MPP, not that I dislike the record. I enjoy it enough. But MPP is just a better collection of songs.

Applesauce is my favourite track on here and that hasn't changed since it came out, i doubt that it's gonna change at all.

Yeah I saw them live tonight and it was easily a highlight. Such an anthemic track about eating fruit.
I wish more people (besides me, briefly) during Wide Eyed. Easily the worst Animal Collective song ever.
....
I actually didn't boo but I wanted to. Wide Eyed ruins the first half of Centipede Hz. It's such a drop in quality after Applesauce.
Also:
Why do they still use all the CHz balloon teeth on stage? It's been quite a long time since that record was released.

i dont think wide eyed is that bad, definitely not the best song on there but i can still feel it every once in a while

Technically they're still touring for the album and I'm sure that stage design wasn't cheap so why only use it for a handful of shows?
Plus it's awesome.

er yeah, if they're playing a lot of songs from CHz I dunno what else they're supposed to be using
it's only been just over a year since the album anyway. if they had written new songs since then then maybe it would make sense to change it.

Like I said, I didn't but I think Wide Eyed is a terrible song with one of the worst melodies ever written. I understand why they played it: to give Deakin a spotlight. A lot of people I talked to at the show also told me they think it's a bad song, but, like I said, it seemed to work well enough at the concert to get some people excited.
I know they aren't playing music to please me personally, but Wide Eyed is a song with the nefarious distinction of ruining a solid album. It's basically their Don't Pass Me By (but even that song is kind of catchy). Songs like Wide Eyed don't deserve any modicum of praise. Just compare it to the fifth track on MPP, or on any other AC album. It's just painful.

You still said that you wish more people were booing though which means that you were at least condoning it which is really not cool.

Does a song really have to be catchy to be good though?

Exactly, a song doesn't need to have a strong melody or even try to be catchy to be good, there are so many other aspects of music to consider.

The drum pad Deakin plays on that song is super deep and intense. It's real easy to get lost in that sound alone.

I quite like Wide Eyed but, and I feel kinda awful for saying this, Deakin's vocals are the worst thing about it. Although I'm glad he didn't just try to imitate Avey or whatever.

I like Deakin's vocals, his voice kinda reminds me of Andy Partridge

Deakin has a great energy and is muh boyz, he is a nice guy, has a rich voice, and is on the path to enlightenment.
Respect, pls.
