Hey I just wanted to post my favorite AC Live performance. This completely blew my mind when I first heard it, completely expanded my perception of this song :)

The change in timing always throws me off, but this is and INTENSE performance
although i think it's kind of a missed opportunity that the descending synth thing in the chorus doesn't continue for longer

Was just listening to the title track from Bitches Brew, and the way the rhythms just sort of tumble around reminds me a lot of Danse Manatee, especially parts like 2:52 in Meet the Light Child

it doesn't throw me off, just blows my mind how they're able to achieve the exact same feeling with synthesizers instead of guitars, and slow the song down to a crawl. i never would have thought that i'd enjoy something like this because one of the reasons I love the Feels version of Banshee Beat is how quickly Avey moves from line to line, and i thought i'd really miss it, but i don't at all. on a side note, what do people call the "buppitabuppitabuppita" during the verses of that song, i have no idea how to describe it 8-)

I will probably be there! if you are going, look for the tall, friendly guy with a black "University of Brugge" sweatshirt on, and say hi! sobriety not guaranteed :drugz:

the reworked version of banshee beat is actually one of the songs which no bootleg or recording can even remotely compare to having experienced it live. it was played as an encore just after the break and there was almost complete silence in the crowd as the song started. the whole venue was shattering by the drones and everybody seemed to have been pulled completely out of this world while the song lasted. great times!

Do y'all use any sort of alt artwork for Ark or just the hcti cover?

Wish I could hear Strawberry Jam With Panda's Harmony above Avey, that would be something nice. Even tho The album is perfect the way it is, just think that would be interesting

This sounds amazing. Wish I could have experienced it...at least we have a recording that imperfectly approximates it.

It's a sweet lil EP. I like to think of Baleen Sample a nice hearty meal full of lots of different flavors, then Learning How to Dive is like a palette cleanser.

Nothing but good things to say about the first 2 tracks too. It's perfect front to back

I feel you, I wonder about this a lot. For all we know their best song could be one that none of us have ever heard before.

And I would totally die to hear those summer of 2000 recordings that got stolen :pwn:

I could listen to hours of visiting friends. I wish they made more stuff like that.

I love having sung tongs on vinyl, because side C is just visiting friends. sometimes when i listen to it, as soon as the needle lifts up after finishing side C, i just set it right back down at the beginning again, and let it repeat a few more times

^that's sweet. Visiting Friends truly is amazing. I've been listening to it in the shower a lot, it's nice first thing when you wake up

I was just watching this '03 live vid this live version of Mouth Wooed Her sounds a lot like the Sun City Girls (timestamped for your convenience): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5-ovty ... e&t=18m48s

it took actually reading the Strawberry Jam lyric sleeves to realize that there was a line at the end of Chores and it wasn't just vocalizing

this didn't happen just now but it WAS enlightening

funny ac-related experience i wanted to share with y'all:
Spoiler: show
so today is my 21st birthday and last night i went bar hopping and my friends got me waaay too drunk. by 3am we were at this sketchy dive bar in a bad part of town, and i noticed that there was a juke box directly behind me. I put god knows how much money into it and selected the following in this order, without much thought, although the 3 HCTI songs i picked solely because they are really inaccessible to the general population and two of them are very long:
1. banshee beat
2. i feel ya strutter by of montreal
3. two sails
4. slippi
5. infant dressing table
6. nothing at all by gentle giant
7. the power and the glory by gentle giant

and i just sat there with a big grin on my face and people-watched / listened to thier conversation, a lot of which i documented via text

during banshee beat:
-'is this seriously the whole fucking song?
-'if this is the whole song i'm gonna stick somebody's head in the toilet'
-'twilight fucking song, the humming is cutting right through me'
-'you really like this fucking song?' (bartender to me, to which i just smiled and nodded enthusiastically)
-'sounds like something you'd listen to on halloween if you had a haunted house'

then during two sails:
-'a fucking album of this shit would kill me'
-'this is straight-up slit your throat music'
-'the bartender should be fired for even having this on the juke box'
-'i can't stand this bullshit excuse for music'

about halfway through sails i went to the bathroom and while i was in the bathroom the bartender went and skipped the song, hoping for relief, only to be greeted by SLIPPI, i was laughing my fucking ass off leaning against the stall i was in

i come out and it's ending and infant dressing table comes on. my friends tell me that people walked out during two sails with disgusted looks on their faces, and then after a just couple minutes of infant dressing table someone walks up to the bartender and says 'three bucks if you skip this' and she does.

the next two tracks were also skipped shortly after they started

i also remember at some point (i think after i came out of the bathroom) telling someone to 'try to vibe with that ambient shit' lol...embarrassing but funny in retrospect
tl;dr i very drunkenly put on several tracks from HCTI among other things at a dive bar and wrote down the funny stuff people said
