First post on CA, hooray! Anyways, I reviewed and pushed Sleep Cycle onto our college radio station for others to enjoy the wonderful sounds that Deakin has blessed upon us. I've seriously been listening to the album at least twice a day since release... it helped that SC was released during quite a changing point of my life.
Here's an Instagram post of Deakin replying to my IG post, to which I fangirled excessively:
That's really freaking cool.
Also, I think this is the album that changed my life the most. It made me realize what's important. That is to say loving others and loving your self, while also believing in others and your self.

El Cyc Peels

wow, Deakin from Animal Collective music band seems to have gotten some paint on his head, shoulders and upper torso. it is a mixture of blue and green paint. not mixed together though, he is blue on one section and green on another section.

There must be an LA based DJ with the "Deakin/Deacon" moniker because I received an email from bandsintown stating that "Deakin" announced a new show in my area but when I checked the event it was at some club / dance party. Not the first time this has happened either

From Virginia Beach, Deacon developed a love for EDM after hearing dubstep while living in California in the summer of 2010. Since then, his love and appreciation for electronic music has grown to be a way of life. Depending on the night, you can expect anything that fits the mood and tickles his fancy (insert blip about crunchy basslines and melodic club tunes). Deacon also enjoys talking in 3rd person....

awesome interview...the part where you said "the healthy part of myself talking to the sick part of myself" is so crazy and honest. you dont find that in other people man
edit: this review is so effing crazy man. especially the part about regarding merriwether...so personal

This interview is awesome, and I continue to be inspired by the record itself and the journey you took to get there! Thank you so much for putting the record out, coming on here from time to time, and just being generally badass
ETA: Can't wait to hear more of your solo stuff and tunes with the other boys as well!

Thanks for sharing that Josh... really interesting read, I really resonate with the self-defeating stuff because I do it to myself all the time, too. That's the most candid interview I've read in a long while.

Hey Deak, if you see this- thanks so much for that interview, and for this record, and for all the music you've made. You're hugely inspiring to a lot of people and I'm glad to hear you're in a good space mentally. You mean a lot to a lot of people who don't really even know you but connect to your energy and it's so cool to see all the love.

Really great interview.
Obviously I haven't got any of the musical experience that josh has, but this really resonates with how I feel about my own creative process/drive

I'm like, "OK, well how do I actually do this?" mentally going to this place of just seeing nothing but the obstacles, to the point where it stops being inspiring and stops feeling like there's anything—like there's no joy in it, there's no anything. It just becomes this crushing, "I'll just never..."

wow, and the stuff about recording Strawberry Jam is so heavy. Crazy how great that album turned out if you were in that place mentally, josh. Glad you're healthier now

As upsetting as some of the stuff in the interview is, we can take away that Deak has TONS of great ideas that he hasn't been able to realize, just building up over the years. I think we can get super psyched for plenty of great solo material coming in the future.

Anyone get their Deakin Keep shoes yet? They said third week of May in their last update but I haven't got any shipping notifications yet.

This gets better and better for me. I also thought that interview was one of the most honest and enlightening I've read, full stop. Honestly, I doubted how good this might be, because of the gestation period, and suspicion that Deakin was struggling with these issues, but it's remarkably great. It taps into something real and inspiring at a time in my life when I've wanted to make some good changes and take some steps forward. I'm 35 but I know I'll remember this period of my life in years to come and Sleep Cycle will forever be associated with these positive changes.

Nothing on my end... The good news is that once they do ship (from LA I'm presuming?) they shouldn't take long to reach me! Though I wish there were a definite time frame as I could really use a new pair of shoes right now.
