Influences for next AC album, revealed through interviews with each member: ICP, Debussy, and that title song from Teletubbies

I'm not sure how reliable this information is but my new coworker knows I'm into AC and mentioned that his roommate is also crazy about the band and works as a concert photographer for Goldenvoice (touring/promo company) who "might get the opportunity to shoot their show in April next year."

I don't think he knew he was breaking any sort of news and doesn't seem like the type to make up a fake tour so fingers crossed that we might see the band playing some new songs as early as April 2015!

Yay!! I too hope this is true. I don't know how early a show is typically booked for a band at AC's popularity level, so I don't know if this is too early or not. Anyone more knowledgeable wanna shed some light?

Listening to the Slasher Flix playlist now. This Robert Ashley song is a fucking trip. Wow

well the april show i'm assuming would be in LA, not necessarily the start of the tour so if it is true then it's possible that there might be shows earlier than that.

i think at the beginning of chz era, they played a handful of shows in april and then toured in july or so. i think, anyway..

Is anyone else deeply saddened by the internet's lack of the full version of the al fresco desert performance of For Reverend Green? (5:30) Panda Bear is definitely banging rocks together.

Guys, sorry if this has been brought up before, but I was just listening to Alvin Row, and from 1:10 to 2:10 in Alvin Row, is that high pitched noise the same noise that's used throughout Essplode? What do you guys think?

I was just trying to go back and forth and compare, but my head started to hurt lol

guys, i think the april thing is probably legit. Goldenvoice puts on Coachella, which is in April and would definitely have their artists booked by now (they release the lineup in january). definitely stoked to hear new songs.

Do people on here already know why they are in the back of a truck in the Brainwahed.com interview?

pretty sure it was their tour van around that time and also the venue might not have a had a quiet place to record the interview.

Anyone know where I can get Young Prayer on vinyl. I know it's out of print, but is there somewhere other than eBay that might have it?

This may sound really pretetious but am i the only one who dont see AC as musci, but something bigger than just 'good songs'. an example: Grizzly Bears Veckatimest is to me really really good songs all of them, but i dont get the same feelings as when i hear Strawberry Jam. its like i dont put music on when its AC, its like something else, something better, and most AC tunes dont have a strong melody i think but it just moves me and challenges me so much and thats why i love The Animal Collective.

It's not just you man. Music means a lot to all of us, that's why we're on this forum.

I feel the same way about AC, they've become a major part of my life and more than just another band. But I would also say that there are other musicians, like Oneohtrix Point Never or Deerhunter, that I also feel this way about. As much I love AC, I'd say that there are also many other artists who have achieved something "bigger than just 'good songs,'" as you said. Classical music and movie soundtracks have also had this effect on me. There's plenty of great music out there if you look for it
Untitled wrote:

Whoa there, watch out. People might jump down your throat for saying stuff like that. ;)

Sung Tongs and Feels are full of strong vocal melodies. Even Hollinndagain has vocal melodies. Maybe you meant to say that the vocals aren't mixed as loud as they typically are in popular music?

Great writeup Mary. So they said they have no full band shows planned yet, but PB is booked for Coachella? Maybe Sam's coworker got Panda Bear confused with Animal Collective—an easy mistake for a non-fan. Either way, I'm very very excited.
Just the thought of AC exchanging new song ideas gets me so psyched :metal
