what happened would make my night if they play it at the show i'm going to, but any of the "songy" ones (mr. fingers, kindle song, screens, working, tantrum barb) could work with their recent setups (and would be much welcomed!)

Sad they weren't able to answer a lot of questions, but the ones they answered were great. Really cool to hear about the elf blowing a horn on the FBK cover and crazy to think a version of Cobwebs could have been the closer!

^just came here to post about the FBK cover! really cool. funny cause that's a question they've been asked before and opted not to answer to let it remain a mystery, so definitely a neat surprise!

i think the most intriguing part of it was them saying "and yes there will definitely be more live albums and unreleased stuff like demos coming your way."
i wonder what they've got in store!

ya but like, I feel like a single more chilled out WC track would kinda shift the whole albums vibe.
SJ is cool but I only feel emotionally connected to the middle chunk whereas track 2/3/4 of WC are all emotionally heavy. Would def be a slightly tweaked overall vibe

didnt some of us think it was a garden gnome or troll-like thing the whole time? Still sick tho
I thought it was holding an axe like chopping wood, so it holding a horn is cooler honestly, less metal, more mystical

Haaaaa yes amazing about the gnome. Can't unseen that now. Also, super duper interesting about WW being an Ark jam. That shit would've been wild.
Some other notes from the AMA other than the guys being sweethearts:
As I said in the live thread, maybe Applesauce will make an appearance and by the sounds of it ODDSAC too? My money (and hopes) would be on What Happened but I can definitely see Tantrum Barb too.
Also confirmed what we already knew about Defeat and Magicians being recorded and wanting them to come out before/instead of releasing them on the Live at Music Box release. But that shit has just gotten me more psyched for those jams. Sounds like no PBH though because Josh has said again that Stride and R&D are the only ones to have been recorded. Will still hold out for Sundown with Cecil

Seems like Sundown shoulda been in the MBV video they already dropped unless there's some plan for it... guess that goes for all the remaining stuff. Cool to hear Deak sounds psyched about how Defeat and Magicians and all that turned out.

weirdly i feel more inclined to not want to mess with water curses than sj. wouldn't want to take cobwebs away from water curses. water curses ep is too perfect!

unrelated - I love unsolved mysteries so much. It's one of those songs (of which there are many) that makes total sense in the context of ac's music, but if anyone else wrote it it would seem like a such an insane song

Is anyone else direly in love with their live in studio performances. Particularly the BBC stuff. Like most of these I consider the definitive version of the song. Lion in a Coma, my God.

why does everyone forget sundown with cecil was played on geo’s show? isn’t that like a studio version already?

One of my favorites, I love the part where you think it will return to the verse but Panda's drums pick up and in this amazing shuffle and we get this strange interlude "what's sadness anyway?" chorus before the next
and the bubbling backround

Winters love fucked me up big time today. It was like hearing it for the first time again. Perhaps sung tongs is their best. I don't know how they captured those melodies. It's beautiful

Hadn't noticed (or at least appreciated) those drums before, so thanks. Glad Unsolved Mysteries is getting some love. What a brilliant, zany tune. Listening to it always feels like reconnecting with an old best friend. The comfort comes from it being a core part of my high school discovery of AC, as well as it oozing a kind of humble charm due to it easily blending into obscurity within AC's enormous discog.

I've always loved Sung Tongs but its undeniable warmth (Winters Love especially) has rocketed it up to my favorite AC record in the past couple of years. The sounds are unreal. Simultaneously stripped back and fucking wacked out with effects. Could live in that world forever.

It makes me think I'm hearing things. During the "To go" part theres like this low vocal "doo do" that pans between both ears and gets quieter and plays off beat on the third one. It just sounds so natural on the song as a vocal harmony but when you focus on it it becomes so obtuse. I love it.
Also I have to praise who could win a rabbit. they just went godmode writing/performing that melody.
the second verse of sweet road... the high pitched chirping noises..

The twinkling guitars, the creaking effect, the humming on the Softest Voice all make me feel like I'm in a fairy cave in the hollow of a great tree

Wonderful sound environment, great posts. There's so much to be said for the minimal instrumentation and then every little detail and production flourish hits so much more deeply. The seagulls and that clap.

The Softest Voice is so beautiful. So impressive how they made such immersive music with such simple guitar arrangements

Yeah, same with Kids on Holiday, which is probably my favourite on the album and is famously based around just one chord being strummed over and over.
Softest Voice / Winters Love are close seconds for favourite on the album.
