Would be sweet if he took autotuned, up-front vocals and minimalist instrumentation, and combined those with Homies style longer-form songwriting and dancey vibes.

LENNOX: Skateboarding. It’s kinda too late, though; that ship has sailed. [laughs] But I wish I could. I love watching skateboarding videos. I always dream about being able to do that stuff. There’s something about the movement of it all. To me, it’s about achieving these impossible feats. It’s like how a surfer harnesses nature, but a skater gets to harnesses a city in a way. That’s something I’d love to be able to do. The big skate videos are a thing of the past now, or at least it feels that way. Mostly people just upload a few clips to Instagram or Youtube. There was one by Supreme called “Blessed” that came out on Thanksgiving. That’s a recent one that I loved.

Damn, I would love to skate with Noah and teaching him some move, that would be so weird and fun.

I am pretty sur it would be possible to create a character that looks like him. Someone needs to do that asap with him wearing a t-shirt with a big ass wolf on it.

lol have NO idea what hes talking about around 4:25ish, when he's talking about "contorted" vocal inflections(?) like give us some example ya dummy.

when reviews don't have any like moments or even many individual songs to call out specifically, im always weirded out and feel like they didn't have give it enough time to reveal like the parts that connect with them personally.

how r u not gonna mention the middle melody of IKIDK or the chorus/pre-chorus in Master. I just dgi idk man.

You were there? That's awesome!

Finally got the chance to play the CD on my dad's stereo system. Having listened to the album obsessively, it's not a mind-blowing difference, but it's definitely awesome having the sound fill the whole room.

Home free is still more and more impressive every time I listen to it attentively. Most mysterious and atmospheric song on the album imo

Blessed by Supreme is an incredible skate video and plays like a full -length feature. So glad Noah likes it and I would recommend it even to non-skaters

I still had a great time at this recent 930 show, but I think it was an inferior setlist compared to last year..
'playing the long game' was the saving grace for me personally this past show, that one bumps haaaard
i've seen comfy a few times live, panda solo & AC, so that wasn't too exciting..it loses a lot w/out the choir sample i think, but i dig that he tried something different with it...
also he didn't play buoys or crescendo, those were HUGE highlights from the last show at 930...

soo....

if you went last year, it was not as good as last year imo
if you did NOT go last year, it would've def been worth it to see...

No offense to Panda at all, but pretty much all of his vocal inflections are "contorted" in comparison to standard vocal practices of the last several hundred years. It's hard to explain, but if you listen to Token (I'm going to use the time stamps from the video here because it's not on my computer yet) but at 1:20 you can hear Panda say "tuff, wone crumbo", or at 1:30 "get into the beeeelding", "slide in tyoo a warm", and if you listen to the "coldest cold" you can really hear where this anomaly derives from. Panda overly uses the shape of his mouth to achieve the pitch he's going for, which distends the timbre of the vowel, and since resonance is what gives each vowel it's individuality, it can make it sound like a different vowel if you move your mouth more open or closed.

I personally love it, but my ex who's a professional opera singer and vocal coach would always get super picky about how the everyone in Animal Collective sings, and I think PB especially does it to an extreme that some people find weird.

that's some cool analysis of the vowel sounds. I bet Panda would find that interesting since he's been messing with formant shifting which is kinda similar

lol I actually hate him for liking it--more than tomboy or greaper. dude just doesn't get it. the repetition in AC's music is what makes it so beautiful for chrissakes. and my humble opinion is correct.

like there's no repetition on SJ which you loved you flipping manatee. or weird vocal experiments either!

make better critique.

totally agree about master tho.

distorted compared to what? certain other genres of music for the past hundreds of years? this is like saying all vocal music where you can't discern the words well is distorted/contorted and are not "standard vocal practices". TF does that even mean?

wait was your whole post sarcastic? sounds like it. genius if it was.

he wasn't fucking with you jerry..singers in music schools, conservatories (etc...) are taught to shape their mouths certain ways, how to breathe, when to breathe, posture, and the list goes on. i think he was trying to convey that AC don't adhere to certain standards within the academic mindset
