Really truly loving this album, been jamming it on the regular. Such good vibes.
Had to hop on here to ask one question: does anyone else think of "Swingtown" by Steve Miller Band everytime they listen to "Gettin' to the Point"? Once I hear it, I can't unhear it...they are in the same key for goodness sake! Take a listen, particular the vocal entry around 40 seconds in...
Someone tell me I'm not crazy.
you are crazy . but nice crazy . I heard people say Queen Bitch .....I think that Eddie Cochran riff is a key evolutionary trail starter though .
Thank you Petek, and thanks again for crafting such tasty morsels for all of us, both on the album with Noah and here in the chats. Definitely hear some Queen Bitch too. Sussing out the connections and sonic genealogy is always part of the fun, but even more so with this gem of a record.
did grundletron3030 make this happen? september last year...
This is so cool. That little Swingtown intro has been stuck in my head ever since the live show.
Also curious to know what Panda was ad-libbing in the middle of Danger at that show. The ending sounds like "It's all in the family again" to me but stumped on the little interludes. Maybe Portugese?

good day on the board we got a new preview for reset in dub
Wow this is a massive chunk of the track and it sounds fantastic. This is shaping up to be one of the only remix albums that I’ll actually regularly play on it own merits

Dub remix makes so much sense for this album. Extends the listenability factor by a ton. Reset is so short and dryly mixed (in a good way) and concise and shiny.. make it longer and vibier and a lil dank and I can work out to it or sauna to it more
aw lol i wonder which songs he regrets, i dig them tho so thanks pete
I felt this was true of him generally and I think partially explains why he contributes so few songs to AC records compared to Avey
As for full album dub remixes, Bill Callahan’s Have Fun with God is the blueprint for me

awesome interviews.
fresh ig clip is juicy
I'm hoping the getting to the point dub might bring out noah's drums from the back of the mix, would love to hear them beyond the first instant of the song.

Unrelated question but does anyone have a playlist of the songs they sampled/samples they removed for this record?

Not sure if I’ve got all of them but this is the songs they sampled and all those tracks that Pete said had been an inspiration:

This is interesting, dying to know which tracks he means. The ep songs?? The closer track that had never been played live. I will say I love that era and the production is pretty good for me but Mr. Noah always kinda seem like total um. Trash. Idk, sometimes I can convince myself to enjoy it and put on my good-time hat but idkkk about that one.
I also love Faces in the Crowd a ton by the other day I listened to it I was kinda shocked how huge and loud the metallic noise is in that track. Loved it when it dropped and idk maybe it's cuz I'm off weed but goddamn.
Maybe he regrets Cosplay being released cuz it's so lol420, but it's also still gorgeous lol

you mean acid wash? he’s played it live, i remember a fucking sick recording of it from 2017 when he debuted the homies songs. you mean before the record came out?
the only song on the album that i’ve never been into really is butcher baker. I actually loved it live, it just sounds so muddy and indistinct on the album. Cant imagine what other songs he wouldve doubted though
(edited my post sorry lmao)

...but it wasn't played with the original reaper tracks pre album I guess? Right? I thought it was like the only song with lonely wanderer that we hadn't heard upon release.
Actually I put on Mr Noah just now and it's cool idk idk

Yeah youre right, that was a new one on the album. I’ve always loved it though, i’d be surprised if that was one he got “talked into”

I did always think of butcher bakers vocal mix/effect as kinda a wild choice. It'd be a Crosswords tier "single" with a dryer, higher vocal mix but I guess he didn't want that and that's fiiiiine.
Reapers cool man, I never listen to it last 5+ years honestly, but every year that passes it's further removed from the live versions some of us were so damn attached to at the time. I also think I like overhyped it slightly when it was coming out... Bizarre that all of pandas records are good, who'd a thought
Also butcher just came on and the vocals actually don't sound weird to me at all lol. But what's the lyrics about ha

Also sorry I'm derailing and making this a panda general thread which maybe is fine.
Do people even rank Reset next to other panda LPs? Like obvs that doesn't matter at all but like. Idk it's not solo right, reaper is the closest in terms of collabo with Sonic.
Are all panda LPs perfect? Hm perhaps.

It's a Panda album to me. Pete is one of the boys. Slasher Flicks is an Avey album to me too so

I remember that, didn't he literally say it was "Doo Doo" lol. Idk mayne reapers a 10 for me despite my reservations about his use of impressionist composer samples. Just a softer 10 than pp and tb which are sacred texts. I usually think I like Buoys more but maybe just conceptually I do idkkkkk. I also always picture some panda album im forgetting between Buoys and realer but it's just Homies I'm thinking of...

Good point I think of Slasher as avey solo proper. T tones and Jane might be diff tho to me tho. Probably shouldn't be tho

I can never understand the Greaper indifference/issues. It is absolute top tier for me.
When do you think we'll get another reset Dub single?
I'm currently listening to the Songbook Instrumentals to try and satiate my appetite.
We're so lucky atm though. It really feels like AC season this year and its so exciting. Feels good.

in terms of getting talked into certain tracks, i vaguely remembered in some interview from the greaper era that he had to be talked into putting Acid Wash cause he didn't think it was any good:
wrote:
"Acid Wash" was recorded during our first session—that, and "Come To Your Senses." I thought it was a pretty shitty song for a long time—then, I played it for a couple of people, and that was the one they singled out as their favorite.
