For real, i will not ever understand noah's decision for the vocals on that song. it just makes no sense to me. the song has so much power live, and the instrumental rocks in the studio version, and then... the vocals... are just drowned

i abstained from mothlight recording so these bird trax would be freshhh and there's some interesting sounds and textures for sure and i love to see him embrace the weird with these arrangements...i can see why these songs ended up as afterthoughts though, don't really envision myself revisiting this much after the honeymoon phase is over...

I'm glad the autotune on enjoy the change is much less pronounced than it was on the cows tour, I remember the vocals being really irritating live. but this sounds awesome

I'm hoping Dave will take us by surprise (much like he did pulling Alvin Row out on PW tour) and have Song for Jerome on the new EP.

I need Song for Jerome somewhere. SOMEWHERE. It has been 8 years since I heard it for the first time at U Street Music Hall and fell in love with the sharp, bold synth stand hitting me in the chest with that sub-bass undertone and then heard it would eventually be released. Where is it Avey? D:

I kind of feel the same way. I enjoy the visuals in the videos much more than the songs themselves which is unusual. I guess I have never really fallen in love with the extremely ambient meandering a-melodical style tracks Avey had done.

Love love love this. Hoping my local record store is brave and picks up the EP, cause shipping is too expensive to Aus to ever buy anything from Domino.

Ya it totally sucks that we will probably never get studio releases of slow words, song for Jerome or photographs (which is another favorite of mine). I say never bc it’s totally obvious what and who those songs were about (his exwife) and I’m sure he’d rather forget about that whole situation as much as possible. Such a shame though bc those are some of the most powerful, rawest, emotional performances from him. When I was going through a tough breakup many years ago, I used to play those songs over and over bc they brought me such comfort.
It still kills me to this day that it was only weeks after his Chicago stop for that tour is when I first heard of them and other than the 2017 Avey show, I’d trade in every show I’ve ever seen them at just for that one

Dave said in an ama or some such thing that he might eventually release an official live recording from that tour but as the years drag on that seems less and less likely.

enjoy the change sounds so much better in studio then it did live, i thought it was ok but rather undevelopedi n 2017 and then i kindve thought it was a mess in 2019, love that it all came together for an absolute behemoth of a song here!

Uncle Donut is weird, I fucking love it but I also kind of think it doesn't really make sense structurally, like it doesn't seem to be building toward anything. It's like it teases toward moments that seem like they could be climactic, but the song as a whole ends up feeling very static. It's somewhat frustrating because I absolutely love everything else about it.
