Potentially stupid question, please be nice with your answers. I feel like I usually see so many videos pop up after their shows. The boot is great and thanks so much to those doing that but dang I love watching live videos. Are they requesting no video at these shows? And not that I think everyone should be obnoxious with their phones in the air for the whole show, but one here and there doesn’t hurt. For those of us who won’t get to see any of this tour.

this comes in pretty low on the "confirmed information" meter, but i verified with avey on IG that "cherokee" is specifically mentioning the NC towns of Black Mountain and Montreat. my parents have a place in montreat and i'm headed up there with my family tomorrow night, so it freaked me out to hear him reference them (even though i knew he was living in the area)
e: and fwiw he also referred to the song as just "cherokee" so the setlist wasn't using a shortened name

Lol bolder is fuckin great
DownDownDownDown is great too, settled in so much compared to the music box recording
All the songs, including the upbeat ones, share a sort of laid back, breathable quality. Love that! Disagree with those saying defeat is out of place

Finally was able to boost the volume on my recording of the Tulsa show. Also split the tracks. If anyone wants to master it, feel free. Sounds pretty decent to my ears.

also, for some reason, it wouldn't let me change the name of the applause track, but it should be track 13.
Enjoy!

Yeah panda's songs sound like a progression from Buoys to a similar place the other boys are going, I don't get this take at all.

this material is all blowing me away. shocked the band is making stuff this good in 2019, though i shouldn't be. they're just putting together things they for some reason haven't until now. anyway, dunno why people don't like boulder. that song rips too. peace.

Bolder would be an ok song but the vocoder or whatever it is just does not work for me lol. Avey sounds like fucking SpongeBob at the end of it.
I actually quite like the autotune on the meow wolf Cherokee tho, a lot more than I thought I would.

what I have a question about the tulsa boot, in
does the recording
loop in track 14 - downdowndown - or do they interpolate parts of downdowndown into boulder
or am I just a dumb shitty listener haha
either way, spectacular boot - I'm glad I waited until I had a chance to one shot the whole recording and really savor the sweet, sweet, sweetness of new ac

Yeah I was gonna say this song makes me really happy. I lived in Asheville 2014-2018 I had some wonderful times in Black Mountain my first year in Asheville. I started going to this conference I still go to for native plants in Cullowhee and always drive past Black Mountain out of Asheville down to Cherokee where I would stay in a hotel and drive from Cherokee to Cullowhee and back every day for the duration of the conference. Such a beautiful drive. That line "driving back to cherokee" recalls really specific imagery. It's cool to think that same scenery left a similar impression on avey and around the same time as well.

Is it just me or are these some of the gentlest, quietest songs the band has ever written? From listening to the boots they sound less like a high energy spectacle than a bar band. I love it. Reminds me—just in terms of energy—of the tour when they debuted the Strawberry jams. I’m hearing a lot of little moments in these songs that, melodically, feel like quotes from every era of the group, but especially Sung Tongs/Feels. And i love how they’ve totally reinvented some of the Music Box material.
Not entirely sold on the auto tune tho haha

Agree that panda’s vocals do not fit this material.. I like him as support (like on defeat for example) and he kills on drums.. but someone please limit his access to the mic

Definitely some of the sweetest, most melancholic tones to come out of AC imo. Makes sense after having played sung tongs on their last tour and a few feels tracks this time around.
I almost see this as being one of the final chapters for AC. They’ve gone from the experimental and chaotic Danse/Hollinndagain days into the lovey and emotional ST/feels era. Then they ventured to the party times of jam/MPP with some prolonged confusion on cHz/Painting... and then Tangerine came out with a completely new sound. Just the way beginnings and endings are tied together in litterateur, Tangerine sounded like the band touched base with those early and experimental moments of chaotic introspection. This new material sounded, to me, like a bookend to those tracks. As if AC was searching for something over the past two decades and this next album will be the concluding voice on how it felt to find it.
