I mean were blessed as fans. We have bootlegs of them testing and figuring out the material before its released. So were always going to be disappointed. But there was something to be said about the darker more abrasive side of the Grim Reaper demos. I think the boys need to trust their instincts more and there also at the point where they dont need an outside producer. Or they should just go back to Santos, Verhes, Colburn...

I kinda hope the "pretty" side of Panda comes out though. Those commercials someone listed back in the thread really showcase a new side. IF we get those beautiful piano chords + Noah's voice = holy fuck.

I've been saying this forever as well but a dope 4 to the floor "techno" record with his sense of sound design would be dope. Better yet him, Pantha, and Queens need to work together....

I feel that his music is most interesting when the influences are filtered through his own sense of how to write songs. You could argue that Person Pitch is a house/techno record, in terms of structure and repetition. It's got a classic 'tracky' Chicago approach to structure, different sections coming in and out over a repetitive backing track.

Swallow at the Hollow was a great glimpse of what a straight electronic record might sound like, and I did really enjoy it, but I think it was the patchwork nature which made the little bits more interesting, in contrast.

I thought the PdP collaboration was less interesting even than the sum of its parts but I know plenty enjoyed it.

Yeah I know what u mean Stan, PP definitely has the house/techno influence from Dettinger, Wolfgang Voigt, Basic Channel, etc. especially in the way things are structured and built up. I like to think of Good Girl as a weird minimal techno track without any kick drum

Especially when he lists half of Kompakt's lineup as inspiration for the album

Here's to hoping the 5 songs are long (8-14 minute range would be great) and that the stripped down "parts missing" vibe is complicated with room to breath and develop as opposed to just being 2-4 minutes long :boo:

Supposedly it's like 28 minutes long so I'd imagine there a few long ones and a few short ones yano

Deakin's music can already soundtrack porn if you want it to. Don't let your dreams be dreams

Holy shit yeah

I'd love to hear Panda return to the oddly baroque songwriting style of the Young Prayer days. I know he never will, but i can still dream

Is anyone planning on being at Desert Daze? It seems imperative that someone makes a boot of this show to really get the hype train rolling.
