Mate, I can really recommend a cup of tea, just the regular bag of dust shit, don't go too deep with a roasted oolong or aged sheng pu'erh, just plain old Yorkshire or Tetley's or Typhoo. I can't believe how much quality stuff they've been giving us lately, 2 fantastic EPs (one of them pretty much album-length) within a few months of each other and now what might be a double solo album, not to mention a fantastic tour still in progress. AC really are the gift that keeps on giving!

This is looking to be one of the best years for Animal Collective fans in a long while, and they year is only half over.

Prob too soon to speculate abt this but I wonder what this means for AC's convention of cycling between full band/solo album mode. Let's say Avey releases this within the next 6 months (feel like that's a reasonable estimate), maybe Panda releases something within the next year since he said he has ~30 min of new music pretty much finished, could that mean that within 2 years AC will head back into their next album cycle? prob with Deaks on board?

This still assume a lot tho, from what ppl have posted here and on the subreddit it sounds like Panda's new album is finished, but that could just mean the songs are written but still need to be recorded/mixed maybe? Plus Panda will prob want to solo tour, Avey will presumably tour behind this album, so it could be a bit longer before AC starts up. Like I said too soon to tell, but I would be so damn psyched if we actually got another AC album by say, 2019 (weird to think about an AC album released in 2019 lol)

In the meantime tho I'm very psyched about EUCALYPTUS and patiently awaiting official announcement

That's kinda my thinking. The fact that Panda says he already has a whole new collection of songs and Avey's album is coming v soon almost makes me think that they wanna power thru the solo album cycle instead of taking a long time before the next AC album. Then again could just be wishful thinking on my part. I'm probably getting ahead of myself since Avey's album hasn't been been officially announced yet

The album cover could be a reference to the electronic / classical albums released on Nonesuch in the late 60s and early 70s. They all had that sort of framed psychedelic image cover, with a similar font. I work in a library that has a huge music collection so let me see if I can find one of the records I'm thinking of and take a picture

since this is on the longer side (is it a double..?) i wonder if some of its material goes back to that time that Avey was said in one interview to be working on like 3 albums all at once, around the time right before Slasher came out? It seems like when they get together as a band, that shit draws on very specific writing sessions whereas solo stuff can kind of take years to develop. omg i want this i wonder when the time-frame for a release even is tho... like if this week is this cool announcement then like maybe hard info and maaaaaybe a single next week? and like record in july (via sports in july). im so ready now

Don't bet on it being a long album until we see the track times, for all we know there's a bunch of tiny interludes. I'm having flashbacks to being disappointed that Davy Jones Locker and Shadow of the Colossus ended up being meaningless blorps of sound instead of cool unheard songs

A complete fucking waste of time, basically. Unnecessary Sonic Boom influence. It's like taking Geo's marvellous work at the end of Unsolved Mysteries and calling it a separate track, except SHITE.

yeah demonclusters, I believe that cover is definite an inspiration, for me that art reflects pretty well the new songs.

not sure if a lot of the coral thing will be on this album since they officially release the titles for that project and they are not the same here, and those sounds where made with geo and deakin and their names are not included on the puzzle.

hope some material from 2011 or even grasslands (still hoping...) can appear here in some form.

also my guess is the tracklist is right side of the box, front, left, and back, I think makes more sense like these:
