Kinda rare to get some panda bear falceto! At first I was like is that deaks but then I was like oh wait nah. Man pandas register is still so solid and high. That 'osaka' line. I love watching his face live when he goes to hits those notes and you're thinkin, oh is he gonna get up there?! And he always does. Nice.
Over all I love this shit so much. Super positive vibes. Interesting to see its the first track. What a way to set the tone. Could bring new fire to a discussion about the best opening track on an AC album. Can't fuckin wait to hear the rest. Immediately ordered all three deluxe LP's after hearing this track. Fuuucking so much stokedness beaming outta me right now!

Someone probably already said this, but I love that the lyrics in the bridge of the song are about a bridge. That and all the catchy-as-fuck "da-da"s in the chorus make this whole "AC does a pop song" thing feel really intentional and masterful.
To me it most closely resembles the Water Curses/SJ era which has me beyond excited. Also the fat squelchy modular synths remind me of Lucky 1 and some other Down There tracks, I really hope the whole album builds on those vibes!

The chorus is only 'ok' to me, a little too simple or something. might get a little grating after a bit.
But the rest of it is great "vintage" AC. solid melodies and vocal interplay and interesting sounds, the whole package.
The song title is a little silly but I like the whole idea of "take a vacation to the land of Dadaism!" so it works.

is this the crispest song they've ever made? the sounds and production are just insane, sharp and clear, the energy is so present.

How so? A few people have said this but I really don't see it. Maybe I just view PBVSGR songs differently.

Isn't the fact that you've given this song nearly a dozen listens some sort of testament to its quality? There are several Grim Reaper tracks I've heard once and never again because they bored me to tears but this song - in spite of its seeming banality and childishness - keeps me (and apparently you as well) coming back for more.

I'm confident that 80% of the rest of the songs on the album will outshine floridada. Seems to be a trend for most anco singles in my opinion.
Like floridada is already SO GOOD but the rest of the album will be even more

Some thoughts. This song is really fun to listen to with headphones. The synth stabs throughout the verse are awesome. It's totally a pop song but has loads of depth. Love how they cut the sample just before he would've said 'wipeout' originally. The vocals seem to be mixed pretty low actually, or they're just not extremely clear to me instantly, perhaps. What else... on my most recent listen, i thought the vocals in the second section were a bit louder than the first chorus. Maybe? Also i love the gaps in the bass in the final chorus loop. Yay Animal Collective

what if people had subjected the chorus of Grass to as much nitpicking as this chorus?
"Pow! Pow!
Now! Now!"
lol are those the actual Grass lyrics tho?

i get what people are saying about the bridge being like overwhelmingly emotional in a weird way. i just get visions of myself listening to this song in the future, like this will be the one i go to when i'm old and on my deathbead, in my final hours, and they are long dead, and itll make me tear up hearing them trade off vocals there and remembering them. the melody has some kind of built in instant nostalgic feel, like i'm already nostalgic for it on the first listen.
a lot of their music makes me feel nostalgic i guess tho, in different ways.

it seems totally fitting that it has a simple chorus anyway. the song's just really fun.
they can get pretty "deep" but it's nice to see them loosen up and do something this poppy and happy

ok this sounds so cheesy but I kinda got chills reading this, definitely know what u mean. the bridge melody paired with the way it builds up right there, gets me every time

one day I actually started this song and then changed it to another of their songs and it was starting out with the same note... it wasn't Chocolate Girl but there's another one out there

Sorry to be the party pooper in this circle jerk, but this track is severely underwhelming. Which is surprising considering the tone of the track. The chorus is painfully cheesy and not endearing. It's almost as if it's trying so hard to accessible, that it becomes unbearable. Lyrically this falls flat and sonically it's not what I enjoy about animal collective, even in there pop moments. Definitely disappointed with this one. Hope the album turns to be a major improvement.

WHENEVER MULTIPLE PEOPLE ENJOY SOMETHING AND AGREE ON ITS QUALITY THINGS OFTEN TAKE A TURN DOWN "CIRCLE JERK LANE", INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, THIS IS ALSO SAID TO HAPPEN WHENEVER MULTIPLE PEOPLE DO NOT ENJOY SOMETHING. DAMNED IF YOU DO DAMNED IF YOU DON'T IT SEEMS. IF ONLY THERE WERE MORE THAN 2 WAYS TO PROCESS NEW TRACKS, OR FEWER PEOPLE POSTING ABOUT THEM.
WHEN I HEAR DAVID PORTNER SAY "FLORIDADA FLORIDADA FLORIDADA FLORIDADA

I LITERALLY FEEL PAIN, JUST LIKE YOU.
I ALSO HATE HOW I DIDN'T COME AWAY FEELING ASSURED THAT THE ANIMAL COLLECTIVE HAD GONE INTO THE FLORIDADA WRITING PROCESS WITH THE AIM TO ENDEAR ME. UGH!!!
THANK YOU COUNT CHOCULA FOR GIVING AIRTIME TO SOMETHING I HAVE BEEN FEELING BUT HAVE BEEN WHOLLY UNABLE TO PUT INTO WORDS.

No one is saying it was their aim to be endearing. Often the quality about cheesy media is that it has an endearing quality to it. I get it. Everyone here loves animal collective, but I think it's important to be honest when it comes to taking in music. And this does not deliver. A lot of people agree, a lot disagree. Reception for CHz was pretty mild and given the nature of this track, it's only going to polarize people more

Everyone I know irl that's heard the track really digs it. It's bouncy, catchy and fun but it's still very ac. Sucks your disappointed but please don't try to act as if people are being dishonest about the way they feel.
