I don't know what's up either. The Montreal show got post-poned again and it says "Fri, Jul 14 - Sat, Jul 15 at 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM" on my ticket, though it no longer shows it on his website.

I just moved a half hour away from where they're doing Woodsist and I'm on the fence about going just because of ticket prices and there being bands I want to see both days so it would cost me more ha. Not the worst problem to have. Might pull the trigger if Avey's set the first two nights has anything really cool. Would love to see him swap out Chocolate Girl or mix up his instrumentation.

No surprise there, didn't see them wanting to stretch this era out any longer than it already has been. A gator pools tape sounds cool!

i ended up going! there were two new songs played i believe, saturdays/ghost of books/chocolate girl were the standouts for me again as they were the standouts last time i saw him in the city. the first new song he started the show with in particular was very good, avey was a motormouth on it and it sounded really sweet and sentimental. the second one was a little more rhythmic and had almost spoken chorus. good stuff! i always prefer seeing him in a smaller club type venue rather then a bigger place like market hotel even tho that venue is v pretty what with the subway passing in the window

Montreal show was fun and there was a new song! Very intimate setting, I was probably <10 ft from the guy. It’s really sweet how free-form and flowy the set felt even though it’s a lot of backing tracks.

Some funny crowd interactions went something like:

-Two people requested he play “Mouth Water” and Avey was like “… it’s Wooed”

-Also a guy was like “Michelle!”
Avey “Michelle?”
Different guy: “The Beatles song!”
Avey: “ Oh right yeah… that’s a good song.”

I got a decent recording of the set, including Liliane Chlela's opening which was really dope! Everyone at the venue was having a good time and it was a lot of fun. shoutout to the peeps I talked to at the show--you know who you are :p

I increased the gain by a good in Audacity cuz I set the gain too low on the zoom h1n. there might be some mild rattle when the bass hits on some songs; I didn't place the device in the best spot hehe. If anybody wants to do splitting and-or remastering, they're very much welcome to.

I was forced basically to miss him in Denver this past spring which still kills me, but these new songs sound great, so ty ty ty for sharing. Set is amazing, I really love 7s a lot damn (live and on record)

it's also killing me I won't be in NOLA for the New Orleans thing with Geo but like whatever I'll live, I assume they'll release some kind of Music Box "album" after that (I guess?)

The new song posted in the YouTube link is not Mystical, he seems to beplaying 2 new new songs this tour. The first one kinda reminds me of A Sender, but much more sweet and pretty. The second I'm having trouble finding a comparison among his other stuff. It has a lot of distorted, indie rock type guitar melodies played in a way that feels slightly different for him. Has some good screams in it too!

Tysm for the recording. So happy to listen back to that first song. Was one of the highlights for sure. The second song sounds different in your boot. Has a drum machine and new samples and he sings it differently. Guess he's still figuring it out. By the way the Toronto setlist was identical except he played Ghost of Books between Hey Bog and Neurons

Yes that second one is very indie rock. Sounds like a Radiohead/Thom Yorke song in the first half and Smashing Pumpkins in the second.

Listened some more, that first new song is fantastic. I love the lyric that's like "it's kinda funny I like to apologize for not saying good bye, took for granted there would be friends I'd never see again." Really lovely.
