Would love to add Kings but I don't know what to do with it since we only got a Blast of a 2019 version and the quality of the 2021 live boots of it are so-so. Plus this thing is already like 54 minutes!

after yesterday's blast session, my top 3 songs of the era have become Defeat-Magicians-Genie's, and it's kinda weird to be anticipating Time Skiffs while simultaneously being even more excited for the album AFTER that

i'm gonna bet we get a little EP in addition to Skiffs 2

have we considered how Defeat may possibly work in physical formats? if longer songs like Phil Elverum's "Microphones in 2020" are any indication, it may unfortunately be split up on vinyl... try not to expect it all on one side when it drops unless they've done some MAJOR cuts or made a physical only mix

I would MUCH rather have the song be split up onto multiple sides of a record rather than they mess with the material itself.

first time posting here, but have been lurking for a long time (since around the Age of Tomboy).

Just thought id share a mix I threw together of a theoretical skiffs 2 that I made for me to listen to while under the influence. I tried using some bits from the time blast sessions to make short transitions in an attempt at maintaining a good flow. kinda sloppy but I think it mostly works.

I realize there is already one of these in the pipeline from KidEatsKeyboard which im sure will be much better (im not a very good sound engineer), but maybe this will be appreciated by those who can't wait until then, or those who just really need a serving of Kings/soul capturer with their skiffs 2

Just a heads up, I'm working on a Time Skiffs 2 comprised of Blast sessions. It'll be Magicians -> Gem and I -> Stride Rite -> Broke Zodiac -> Defeat -> Genie's Open. Been really in love with listening to them in this order so I wanted to put it together more efficiently. Will have it up later today hopefully

I touched up the audio a little bit to make it sound fuller but I didn't do anything too fancy because frankly I don't have the skills for that lol. This sequencing wouldn't work too well in vinyl format obviously but I like it anyway. Since the ending of Genie's Open got cut off by the What's On The Road demo I tacked a recording of the acoustic version onto it and it ended up sounding pretty cool.

That's what I'm thinking. Their two biggest releases being named after venues

damn, calling it music box village would be so sick, i would love that. maybe i'm overthinking it but i feel like the boys might think that that could be perceived as trying to evoke the popularity of MPP at a time where it feels like they perceive themselves as entering a new era of songwriting, so i feel like they wouldn't go with that. i'd love that as the title tho!

thinking more about the sequencing of this album, i think the most important thing for me would be that genie's is the closer. the final section of that sounds sounds like suuuuuch a perfect finale to an AC album to me, the whimsical vibe of the climax of the song makes it feel like it's almost the obvious choice for closing the album out, like it's meant to be

I dunno Genie's is sort of struxturally similar to Amanita. I don't know if they'll do a closer like that again. Has to be d feet for me

it's interesting that so many people hear genie as a closer, i just can't hear it that way. it's long and multiparted, but it's not necessarily climactic. definitely a mid to late album jam i think. (tho they've been known to make some interesting sequencing decisions so we'll see lmao)

It’ll be very interesting to see how they sequence TS2. For me, stuff like Broke and Genie’s is so much lighter and airier than the intensity of Magicians and Defeat. Will be challenging to find a way to have them sit together effectively

personally, genies fits in really well with magicians/stride/defeat but i get the hesitation on the other tracks. Although the two mixes by KidEatsKeyboard and Spagett really helped me realize that Gem and I+ Broke+ Soul Capturer (for the Spagett one) honestly fit better than I expected

i could still see them maybe leaving one of those off, or maybe even all 3 for an EP, but now i'm starting to get how ac could pull it off

i've warmed up to broke and gem and i fitting with the other tracks, depending on the sequencing. the only one i feel doesnt fit with the others is soul capturer. i like it, just not on that record. could take or leave kings on the record, altho definitely want to hear that one get the studio treatment as well

I've been thinking about it and honestly the upbeat and sorta cutesy middle section of defeat and final section of genie's open help songs like gem and I and broke zodiac fit in

You did an amazing job of making them feel like they belong together despite the significant shifts in mood

Broke Zody > Defeat is one of the og live transitions that i think work so well. Gem and I works as a track 2 i feel. I honestly could see Gem and I being left off, but nto Broke Zody. I really hope Gem is on it. thats my one of my favssssss

soul capturer fits really well on spagett's time spliffs 2. it's got that classic rock vibe of magicians

I agree that its most likely bound for an EP. I like it but its my least fav and I don't think it really fits with the rest of the jams.

^Agreed about Soul Capturer, unless something changes it just seems like a cool droney kinda track. Kinda reminds me of Walker where it could be an amazing spacer for an album
