just seems lame and extremely ill-conceived

haha yeah. on the one hand it's kinda cute and funny that avey's being that self-aware about AC being a samply band or something, but the "will work for..." joke is a little diminutive, and also just kinda lame as a joke in general. but on the other other hand it's not all that lame in the grand scheme of things, more like a quickly conceived photo shoot. all the photos from that shoot are pretty funny in that it seems like most of the ideas were pretty off the cuff. there's a couple in there where it seems like maybe the idea was "let's go to your favorite restaurant and take a bunch of photos of you with your sampler."

Around the time MPP freebirded, I was an active poster on DefJukies, the message board where Def Jux (El-P's defunct record label) fans could interact with its artists. I remember getting into an arguement on there about the brillance of the record and how it was produced like a Hip Hop album, hence why Def Jux fans should check it out. Eventually El-P commented in the thread and I implored him to check out AC (I think I specifically said he'd like Hollinndagain due to its weird dissonance). El said he'd check out MPP, and I guess he did judging by this picture.
