How incredible would it be if Danny Perez and the guys did an Oculus Rift experience. Something like Transverse Temporal Gyrus

mgmt's optimizer kinda came to mind, but I think AC's oculus rift experience thing would be more organic-looking, less digital. maybe

was MGMT's Optimizer anything more than an album-length video? I still haven't watched the whole thing.

It was very visual albumy. Every song had a different video but some of them reused elements. You should just watch it if you like the album.

yeah I thought so, just thought it was funny because the Optimizer didn't seem any closer to what Aplomb was talking about than what had already been mentioned so far

I managed to catch the Palladia show that AC was in last night, it was mentioned here a while back. Before they showed the performance there was a short interview with Geo, who said that the stage design for the 2013 Centipede tour was inspired by a scene in the 80s movie Krull. That's something that I didn't know before... has anyone seen that movie or know which scene he's talking about?

There is an interview online where he and Dave go into detail about that scene and how they told Abby. I can try and find it later on tonight or just google around and you'll probably stumble on it

Confused. Did you watch live footage? explain please. Was it cool?

Yeah! It aired on the Palladia cable channel, it was a 1 hr. show of a bunch of different performers at the Field Day Festival in England last year (Bat for Lashes and Chvrches were also in it). They aired the short interview and then they played Monkey Riches and Today's Supernatural. Good performances, TS had some pretty dang intense Avey screams at the end.

Yea I saw Krull on netflix a few years ago. There's this really creepy alien/worm thing that lives in this cave and its kind of psychedelic in an 80s "Legend/Neverending Story" type of way. And I think that was the inspiration for the set design. It's not a bad film if you like 80s fantasy stuff in the vein of the aforementioned films.

Ah cool, there was definitely some worm stuff happening on that set for sure.
I'm google image searching this movie now and the cover for its soundtrack album is incredible

Every time Safer randomly comes on my iTunes I listen to it twice

I cry when I think about the fact that there are AC fans out there that haven't heard Safer just because it's a non-album track.
Non sequitur: I have listened to Visiting Friends almost every day in the shower for the past 2 months. It's now the most-played track in my iTunes at 79 plays.

I still find it funny that Safer is one of my least favorite AC songs. It has one of the best Avey screams, but the lyrics seem so art house, all the sound effects fill too much space and cover everything up, the key change doesn't work very well for me, and the opening piano sample is shifted to right weirdly and it gives me listening fatigue when I hear it on headphones :/

Similarly, the vocals in this song are hard-panned to the right channel...it's too bad because I love the song. Only recently discovered it.

Damn, I just bought some nice headphones (Grado SR-80s - not the nicest ever but much nicer than what I was using before) and I think I finally heard Eyvind Kang on Feels! In Bees, just little bits of violin here and there.
It's quite pleasant. Any of you out there, if you're using shitty headphones, upgrade! You're missing out on some really beautiful subtleties in AnCo's music.

Also, holy shit, this is the first time I could really hear the piano during the loud part of In The Flowers. I could always faintly hear it but with nice headphones it really rings out nice.

those audiophile headphones would definitely be good for this jammer. the piano and handclaps really have a special zing

Is there a list somewhere of who sings what in animal collectives discography?

I think there have been a few threads about it but no one's ever made a comprehensive list, mostly because a lot of people think that once you've got to know their voices then you can tell by listening... and obviously the ones that aren't clear or can't be agreed on can't be included anyway
what parts do you know are sung by Dave/Noah/Josh already? I might be able to try filling in the gaps for you

Spirit - Avey
Danse - Avey-Bad Crumbs. There is more but i cant remember on the top of my head
Hollindagain - havent really listened that much to it. Sorry...
Campfire Songs -No idea although Doggy seems quite like a Panda song...
Hcti - all Avey?
Sung Tongs - Noah sings Leaf House, second part in Winters Love, isnt Kids on Holiday Noah? I think it sounds like him.
Feels - all Avey(it sure isnt right but i cant hear that much pandacity on those tracks)
People - all Avey
Strawberry Jam - all Avey cept for: Chores and Derek
Water Curses - all Avey(same as Feels)
MPP - My Girls, Guys Eyes, Brosport and Lion in a Coma? Also frightened is both of them right?
FBK - Bleed and I Think I Canare Noah. Other three is dave
Centipede Hz - Rosie Oh and NTB is Noahs

Doggy is avey
Kids is avey
Loch raven on feels is both
#1 is both
Lion is avey with the exception of the "please don't leave me" part, that is both. Daily is Noah. Mpp is filled with harmonies on almost every song
Bleed is both, as is graze (and studio Wwiws)....and avey has his backing vocals in i think I can.

It's Avey and Panda. Panda does the higher part

Lol, actually that's the only song that definitely ISN'T Avey. Noah sings the main "I've gone and lost a day" part on that.

The only part in Campfire Songs where Noah has lead vocals is on Two Corvettes. I think. He sings the two parts that start with "Going for a drive..."
