man that Catchy was Contagious reminds me a lot of I'll Try Anything Once by The Strokes. Even the way Dave mumbles the lines in the chorus is total Julian.

The examples I can think of off the top of my head are the "little fang little fang little fa-a-a-ang" backing vocals and the "can she hear me" part where she responds with more backing vocals. I mean I just expected her voice to be more prominent in the vein of Dirty Projectors, you know really giving some texture and being a counterpoint to Avey like the girls were to Longstreth, and I feel aside from performing instruments (synth and bass as fern pointed out), she is not a vibrant personality in the band and I wish she was higher up in the mix.

even tho her vox arent too high in the mix her synth/bass parts are what really make the album for mw

I think Angel sounds especially good on The Outlaw. Her voice really lives up to her name.

Yea I hear her vocals pretty often throughout the album, I don't really have an issue with them.

The deeper i delve into this record, the more i like it. my favourite track has been changing every week since it was freebirded. The last few days ive been loving "Modern Days E". Cant wait to get this on vinyl

I agree it would be a good autumn record, I mean the horror themes easily would point to October/Halloween being the obvious ideal setting.

Can I just say that Avey needs to chill with the phaser/flanger or whatever it is but besides that it's p. good.

Personally, I don't think there's enough flange or phaser on this. I think Avey needs to buck up his phaser/flanger usage on the next release, fo sho. Like, don't we want to be deciphering his lyrics for all of eternity?

I guess this album is OK, but the current trend in pop productoin is to run the entire mix (not just the lead vox!) through a flanger effect. You just gotta turn that dry/wet knob to Full Moisture and let it rip. I don't get how Aveytar and the Slasher Folks expect to get their downloadable ringtone on any tweens' Motorola Razrs this summer unless they step up their flanger game.

Is the Roses on the Window on this website just a live version masquerading as the real thing? Because if it isn't, that sample sounds incredibly underwhelming to my ears.

yeah that's almost definitely live, even just going off the dude screaming in the crowd and how far away dave sounds
which means that site is probably just selling the freebirded copy of the album which is pretty uncool
