Yeah Dolphin has grown on me a lot. I agree that the effects on the voice are really perfectly utilized there

Noah's solo work often influences the next AC album. I wonder if the rest of the dudes would be down for some autotune? I can't imagine Avey's vocals being "polished". I'm afraid it would take away from the character of his voice.

God I would fucking love if they fully embraced autotune on the next record. Just don't be ashamed. It's a tool like any other. Bend it to your will my sweet boys

I don't think I would mind autotune being used on the next ac if it wasn't for the fact that we already have the music box material as a little hint as to what will be on the next release. Those songs should not be autotuned imo.

^ completely agree. If the Music Box material is the next record then it needs to be raw af.

So at first this record was a big wash (no pun intended) for me. I didn't connect to it as intimately as I did with Greaper and even homies and I was kinda dissapointed. But, I find myself humming these songs in my head, especially Dolphin. There is a depth here that I am finally seeing.
It's experiences like these which explain really why I love this band so much. They do something completely left-field and it takes a second to adjust and look at it deeper. Once you do, an entire new world opens. I hope they always continue to hold up that mantra and challenge us (and everyone) every time they make something new.
I had a thought of what if I had heard Painting With right after I discovered the band through Sung Tongs.
"Lately it occurs to me, what a long strange trip its been."
I'm convinced that I will love this band and their solo endeavors till its time for me to leave.

I skimmed thru it, it's a skate video with Mr Noah in it at one point, doesn't look like he had any involvement beyond that

I have basically no idea what anyone has meant when they say that he is using 'autotune' on this. like he def rlly is? specifically autotune? what is the difference between autotune that sounds nothing like Cher's believe/t-payne/trap rappers and just like a cool phaser or non-autotune filter? I think Dolphin is the only one where that sounds like the right word. could totally be wrong I just never would have thought I was hearing autotune on any other song besides Dolphin if yal haven't been saying that
more importantly tho: where does he get the gaul to write these lines?
"gonna get ours/anything goes as long as joys the plan"
"another tip of the feathered cap..trip..habitat..whip..cheeky slap....dip..natural sap". (this one is especially astounding lyrically, rhyme wise AND melodically)
"skip on a lake, bumps on a flight"...... and "given a poke/ loving them all" and most of Master, esp the chorus
all of these moments fill me with absolute immense pleasure and reassurance in like humanity I guess.
IKIDK-->Master---->Buoys is kind fo the story of the album to me and is an absolutely immense run.
by far some of my very top songwriting from him, and I almost feel like they all dethrone Selfish Gene as my fave panda nearly..
ty so much panda. u were a very sweet boy to make a lp like this. ty ty ty <3

so many little tiny moments that sort of stagger me, wild out my bonkers, like "and there's slip ups it's true"/"and the differences split" and I guess he adds a 7th to that chord and it just... wow. oof geez.
corny but I like to imagine Master is about Pete, not cuz I care about their actual dynamic, but I can apply it to a mentor-figure personally myself and it is just a sweet song. all the lyrics in it can kinda make sense to me as being about looking up to and getting so much out of working w/ like a mentor xcept the line about one being in the "arms of a cop?" but ya still. part of a ty to u indeed~ <3

I'm gonna suggest it's about Daft Punk rather than SB. One is silver and the other's gold. Blah blah. I haven't analysed it any further to be honest.

So..they just give up in promoting this after the freebird? or Dolphin was the only thing that was suppose to know in 2018? Hope there’s more cool stuff on the way..

It's definitely autotune. Sometimes when he's holding a long note it's not as noticeable but when he's moving between notes you can hear the way the pitch is artificially straightened out

I hope at least Token gets a single release so we can hear what reviewers think of it. I think it's by far the best song on the album--even though the lyrics are so inscrutable. Is it about tokin' reefer and getting really horny?
If Buoys is a single I will slap my forehead HARD.

hope regardless of what we get as a single, we get a cool non-album b-side too.
i'd be cool with token or buoys as a single, vaguely cliche but i think buoys might be my favorite on the album and potentially his best song

omg a b-side would be massive. come to think of it, pbvsgr and sort of tomboy (Preakness and sorta atiba) had a bunch of b-sides. homies almost feel like the b-sides even tho they're almost completely different. they feel more like noisy takes on the reaper vibe than anything like this.. a weird bridge between the last trilogy of LPs and this
but ya it should prbly just be Buoys, the single I mean. Or Master, or Cranked or Token or even IKIDK
this lp is kind of like Frank Ocean's blondes, not just cuz it's prbly my favorite LP since then, but they both have this glossy minimalism-but-still-detailed thing going on where they mix electronic sounds/production with guitar and it all feels pretty lsd-inspired and there are reoccurring themes about escapism, weed, escapism with technology? and I think there was something else I noticed but can't think of now
So..they just give up in promoting this after the freebird? or Dolphin was the only thing that was suppose to know in 2018? Hope there’s more cool stuff on the way..
the album still doesnt come out for over a month. figure we'll get at least one music video before then, maybe another single release too.

lol I didn't hear that Stephen Malkmus record, that's great. also Paul McCartney just dropped a single where he sings with autotune
Charli XCX's influence truly knows no bounds
