Yeah the album is what our preconceptions of the album will be. We all already own a copy

Has anyone else noticed Avey's instagram bio is simply the letters "DP".... What could DP stand for...? Daft Punk, the producers of the next album, perhaps? Or maybe Double Penetration?...or Dave portner?

Dirty Projectors, Angel's former band. That, or David Petterman.

I keep checking myanimalhome just in case something suddenly appears, but nothing has... Kinda sad to see how long it's been since that site's been updated

The live CHz clips are pretty great though :D

Just occurred to me that the reason they've recorded without touring is likely to avoid situations like the pbvsgr thread which has dozens of pages worth of posts complaining that the studio version is different

Probably not why they've done it but a unique situation for us, certainly, and will nip the repetitive single issue griping in the bud. I know I'm one of the worst.

Ha, they haven't avoided touring first because of us, or anyone else's potential reactions.

We'll have to wait and see with this record. I think the non-touring could be pivotal to how it sounds, in some way we haven't thought of yet.

right right I realise we're not the sole reason, but it's got to be a contributing factor, right? SB is active on that thread, talks to pandy the mandy and that filters thru to the band. If nothing else it's an added pro to the whole situation

Certain bands in the past, notablly a popular insect based four piece from Britain, have decided that the sound they wanted to put forth was only doable through the studio, it would be odd for a band like AC who's really great at playing live IMO, but that's always a possibility. I'm not comparing the two in any way, but just know that it is possible with any configuration.

or maybe they want to switch it up for themselves

and for you guys. now you can complain that the live versions dont match the studio...

I think it mostly had to do with Noah touring. Having two tours at once would really just add too much stress for the PB especially since he's mentioned that he doesn't like touring that much.

seems like since the beginning they've stressed that nothing 'outside of their creative process' affects their 'creative process'

i think especially fan expectations/reactions/disappointments etc

id assume switching up their entire recording process for the first time in hopes of avoiding disappointment on an internet message board is highly unlikely

^^ seems more likely which is an exciting prospect

With both the slasher flicks record and CHz, the most exciting stuff at the time and still now for me (applesauce being the exception) are the songs that were not that toured before the respective records came out. (Moonjock, pulleys, amanita, applesauce, a sender, catchy, little fang). I didn't see a difference in quality or excitement for lonely wanderer and acid wash w pbvsgr, but given my personal reactions to the aforementioned Avey songs, I am really excited about the prospects of the next LP and what role not touring will play in expectations and overall reception of the record

Could be a fully interactive LP. No two people share the same listening experience. A fully esoteric album. Completely redefines how we listen to music. Song titles are applied by the listener. No one on here can even discuss the album because of the circumstances. Live shows consist entirely of the band meeting fans afterwards asking what they thought of 'the show'. The album roll-out consists of a mysterious website chronicling the still-unresolved disappearance, and ensuing manhunt, of Joshua 'Deakin' Dibb. Pitchfork gives the LP, Deakin: Zodiac Killer? a simultaneous zero and perfect 10.0. The Animal Collective and its fanbase has no choice but to digest itself, just as the Centipede Hz album cover alluded to all along.

I'm interested to hear how they will sound without Deakin on this record. It's hard not to think of MPP when thinking of them as a 3 piece. Also, I wouldn't mind if they deterred from the over production stylings of cHz and Slasher house, the two albums seem very similarly produced which leads me to think it is Avey's experimenting. The PBVSGR stuff is pretty polished too but more tastefully. Anywho, I'm stoked and looking forward to tour dates! I wouldn't mind hitting up a whole midwest run, I'm from Chicago. Who wants to do AC tour?! I'll bring the nitrous and bunk molly

As much as I love the songs on chz and slasher house, i can't help but feel as if the production sort of choked them. i realize it's a topic that's been discussed to death, but i do really hope that they take the production to a more airy place for this album. there was no room to breathe on chz or slasher

in a meeting at work, and apparently a creative agency (b-reel) we wanted to work with is very busy working on the new "animal collective project", so they can't work with us right now.

news soon?

The new website artwork is very inspiring i'd say! this could fit in the new website thread but it is about the 930 concert recording at the moment! :)

Avey and Deakin are represented by what i am fairly certain are new symbolic images, although i haven't seen all of the artwork over the years to know if Deakin has been connected with an owl before. :)
There are many symbols/archetype images that could be what is there for Avey!
And overall the style of these encourages anyone to experience how amazing and mysterious two beings, pandas and people, that we do see often and might become a bit less sensitive to how fascinating it is that they exist and look, and feel, the ways that they do!
This style also encourages the experience of noticing that the shapes are continually changing; there are outlines and patterns to the faces that can be noticed, but truthfully each moment they are a bit different from before! :D :)
