My original point on music videos wasn't really about whether they can be cool and worth watching. I was more thinking about two other things.

1. In an environment where artists are scraping by, does it serve their financial interests to spend whatever they spend producing videos?

Excellent point. No, it doesn’t.

Hahahaha, great video! As random as Malkmus' non sequiters are. The "spit on a stranger" video is really great.

andthephantom: I pretty much find out about a video on IG and if its an artist I care about or the video segment looked cool, i'll watch it on youtube.

A lot of times fan videos are way better than official ones. Kinda obsessed with this one. The tension and suspense is masterful.

Fan videos can be great, ya... I think we can all agree the best Animal Collective video is this... still the most iconic moment of the PW era other than bathroom flacs

Observation about the two singles released so far:
Both tracks contain lengthy fade-outs terminating in extended stretches of completely dead air (Ferry Lady ≈ 0:04, Defense ≈ 0:10 :!: ).

Did anyone else notice this? I don’t have any issue with fade-outs—think they suit each of the tracks here—but I did think it was peculiar, especially all the dead air! Is this part of some conspiracy (a Sinister Grift?!?) by the record label to pad the length of the album? Or do you think this was an artistic choice by PB to encourage the listener to sit with the song/album to reflect on things?

Just spit balling here! Don’t kill me!!

My favorite music video is probably that of Grass. It's so low budget but effective.

I believe the fade out is due to both singles being the last songs on their respective sides in the vinyl pressing.

Floridada old man dance circle video is def the official one for me. Grass video is so nostalgic and classic. Probably top 5 AC video for me. Never seen the tech deck video before. That wavey camera work and the colors of the ramps fit the song so well. Thanks we<3ourhive!!

Cass first came across my radar bc of PB (named "County Line" one of his fave songs of 2011), cannot wait to hear that collab!

"Panda Bear: My daughter broke down one time and was really upset, she confessed that she didn't like the music I did. I felt pretty bad...I think she felt bad, like she wasn't supporting me. I assured her that she certainly wasn't the only one who didn't like what I did."

The padding doesn’t account for very much of the 45 minute run time. Panda bear and ac albums usually comfortably hit the 45 minute mark without much listener fatigue or covering the same territory twice. IMO 45 minutes is perfect album length.

I really hope Avey sings on Ends Meet.

Funny how quiet it gets a month before a release. If they had announced it NOW and released it a month later, i think the hype would be way bigger. Really truly do not understand the point

Gonna be the first to say I'm kind of dreading Danny Perez doing visuals for the upcoming usa tour leg.

Im hoping it will just be the band and lights for the spain dates in march.

I liked the direction pb's last visual guy took. Would be more okay with DP on this tour if he wasnt using mf AI

i was reading the instagram and youtube comments on the last vid and the general reaction / most upvoted comments were pretty negative. so maybe that might affect a change, but idk if anyone at domino gives a shit. maybe noah doesn't read them. sounds like danny is taking a stance on it. so ..yea..unfortunately i'd prepare for it. it's a shame.

at this point my only excitement for sg is going to be when it freebirds and/or the day it comes out. there's been such little press, and like whatever panda should live his life and not do ten million interviews or profiles or whatever. i feel like the euro dates were too long ago, maybe once the band is stateside i'll be a little more excited to listen to boots and all that but, yah. weird. genuinely more excited at this moment to hear a shaw deal.

i assume the dude is happy with domino because he is an adult and can make decisions for his life/art, but like, what the fuck are they doing lmfao.

things tend to slow down a lot in the music world between year-end lists which happen right after Thanksgiving and then when new releases start to pick up again in late January, so that large gap is probably part of it

there will probably be another single before the album drops but I'm probably gonna wait to hear it all in context anyway. good thing A Shaw Deal is out next week :-)

complaining about labels and album roll outs is fucking played! just enjoy it when it gets here and in the meantime, chill

interviews usually start happening around release week. I'm excited to hear what noah has to say about these songs. hoping for another "a wolf is a type of dog" or "I OWN A CAR" moment (not facetious)

99% of the people who will listen to this album do not give a shit. The week it's coming out they'll be like oh sick, new Panda Bear. It's only an issue for us losers and discord/reddit freaks. PATIENCE
