that's not news though

the fact that he's added more dates is news

The fact that Pitchfork included the bit about "promoting new songs" tells me that Domino probably has a press release for publications making it clear that fans won't be hearing Person Pitch or much of Tomboy, if anything.

The tour is still the primary focus of the article and if he's touring in support of new material/a new album it would be strange not to mention that.

ah i get what you're saying though hash, "previewing" sort of sounds like he's just now introducing new songs or something.
i thought you were laughing cause on your fb posts the article titles didn't match with the preview text below... it was weird

thanks Vovenarg, I dunno what was so hard to get about that

previewing just means showing something off before it is released

like he has been and still will be previewing these songs until PBMTGR comes out

they didnt say debuting

I know they didn't but it really reads like "and THIS time he's playing NEW songs"

I'd have thought that if they had any idea how long he's been playing these songs for they'd have mentioned at some point that this isn't the first time, or said "Panda Bear will continue to play the songs from the album"

All hash is saying is that it is redundant to say he is previewing new songs when he has been doing that since before the tour was announced right?

edit: I guess that isn't redundant really I dunno.

lately i cant help but feel like Down There is hands down the greatest AC-related release. Laughing Hieroglyphic is probably the best song melody and vocal delivery-wise that i can think of. its just so amazing

Can't say I agree that Down There is the best AC-related release (doesn't crack top 5 for me) but Laughing Hieroglyphic is definitely amazing. That song conveys the experience of a somber breakup so beautifully.

it helps that it's more recent so it hasn't been overplayed quite as much as some of their other great albums but yeah, it's one of their best

It's definitely up there with person pitch.
Depends on which you're feeling at the moment.
PP I tend to listen with people more and DT more by myself. It's all on mood and setting.

was just perusing old posts on the ac subreddit and found this: "Sung Tongs" originates from sticking out and holding your tongue and saying "Some Songs"

surely not the case, but a fun idea regardless

my brother always thought it was a corruption of Some Songs anyway

I only ever considered the spoonerism but for some reason I love the stick-out-your-tongue thing.

That was a pretty good article (although maybe a lil bombastic esp. at the end), although I'm pretty sure no one at all except the author of the article considers HCTI to be their third album. Unless they left out Spirit cause it was only half the band? Or both Hollin and Campfire Songs? I don't know. Also disappointed they didn't talk about some of the works that influenced the cover art.
I want to listen to Sung Tongs now cause I haven't in a long time.
