joined the forum just to rave about this record... my first listen it didn't stick.. i thought it was neat but nothing too engrossing, really.. waited a few months, put it on again and it was starting to kick in. something was happening. about a week later i took some acid and put it on and oh man did it just slingshot me into a whole different facet of reality. must have listened to it about 5 times that day. jeez. up there among their best for me now, the whole thing has such a pleasing wet/fluid sound to it

his niagara ocean remix is really sick

this one tho feels like the song just slower with more delay and a heavy kick. I guess that's the point??

These remixes sound pretty lazy, if I’m being honest. Each track follows the same “four on the floor bass drum + goofy sound effects” formula, which isn’t quite worth dropping money on. I agree that Deakin’s is probably the best though.

Agreed! They sound like typical remixes and fail to turn the songs into something new and exciting. Still, good to check out.

i think geo's is the most fully realized (although i've learned over the last year or so that i just don't like his solo work as much) but the other two don't quite reach their potential. panda vocals would have made his mix a real masterpiece i think

The EP is incredible. Might like it more than I like Eucalyptus. Need to revisit that. Geo and Panda knocked it out of the park though. I would dance to panda’s mix. Weird party music

The live song is so good and sounds so much nicer on my ears than the album versions. I wish slasher flicks sounded like this

Eucalyptus isn't missing beats man

I agree Geologist's is the most fully realised but because it's Geologist it's not the type of thing you just chuck on and chill out to. It's intense in a way, asks for deeper listening. Panda's is enjoyable but I wish it was a bit more song-y. Like jfw7 said, if he had sung over it it would've been dope. Deakin's is good but again I wish a bit more was happening.

The live recording on its own justifies the existence of this EP

It's good...but could've been better. It's a nice extension for Eucalyptus, however I wish it had even just one new/unreleased Avey song added in it. This almost feels like it could've been one of their KEEP cassette-type releases. Whatever, take my money anyway. It's still a nice EP. Agree about the Panda vocals--wish he would've done a little more on his remix.

really don't like any of the remixes, they all sound uninspired to me. would've much rather had more altered live versions of other Eucalyptus tracks like "When You Left Me" or "Selection of a Place," the live PJ is really the only redeeming quality to this EP

Would love for Avey to release the entire Asheville show. We already have Geo's set from that night and this one song is killer too.

Remarkable how much stuff is there in the vault at this point. I'd basically forgotten about Midnight Special et al, it's been around fifteen months, by my reckoning. Christ. Imagine if the next AC album combines the best of that set with the best of the Music Box.
