my god Hair Cutter is such a beautiful track, I need to stop listening so I don't overdo it before the full album but it's just so mesmerizing. I love how the water droplets form their own little abstract rhythm and those synth tones around Avey's vocals are perfect

The way the song ends is frustrating. I really want to listen to the whole thing in one sitting. It all seems to flow calmly.
It is the kind of things I need from them now, some relaxing sound to drift away to.

I was already looking forward to the album, but this post got me excited. Like, while I'm sure there won't be too much difference recording it live in the studio vs polishing a soundboard recording from a live performance… there's a degree of intent behind the former that I find very interesting. We've already seen more stripped down releases in Sleep Cycle, Eucalyptus, Homies and Meeting of the Waters, but having a proper AnCo album in this vein suggests, to me, that we're really looking at a new direction for the band, and nothing could excite me more.

Damn, some of you have restraint! I couldn't listen to the Festival of Disruption boot fast enough! (It's so much better than the initial Coral Orgy boot...that was pretty unbearable for me to listen to with all the talking in it from the audience). I can't wait to hear the official release. It's a really great piece of work. Also looking forward to the visual accompaniment.

Agreed. It finally clicked with me and it sounds like when your transitioning to and from another life. For a moment but yes good song. The rest should be better.

The more I listen to Hair Cutter the more I like it. But there's also an increasing frustration that I can't hear the rest of it.

Sorry, I'm not on a lot so I only saw this now. I misspoke when I said double album, I meant 2xLP.
But yes, I'm certain Painting With received worse criticism than CHZ by the general public. On both sputnikmusic.com and rateyourmusic.com, PW is their lowest-rated since Danse Manatee.

Yeah, but the backlash for chz was stronger. people were very vocal about their hatred / disappointment, compared to painting with which was mostly received rather lukewarmly
