If the whole buoy/bouy/boy business turns out to be a spelling error on his first round of promotional material, I don’t know what we will do with ourselves.

First half of the vid feels like panda channeling a 90s vibe, very rockstar
Second half kinda felt avey influenced?, I loved the syncopations between the lights and the song especially loved how powerful the buildups felt
These songs are gonna be so great in person

sup petek !
And that boot is suuuuper high quality, wow. I told myself I wouldn't listen to any of the new songs before seeing them live, but i had to sneak a peak of buoys. sounds amazing
Has anyone else noticed that a lot of his recent melodies are really folk-songy, like they feel much older than they are? I felt that way about parts of Flight (esp the melody that returns in POTM), and I definitely see it in buoys too

It comes to me
plain to see
not only me
no where to be
I got a ride
don't leave it on the ground
and throw a bone
not on my own
I got a son
I got a ride
Lift this sickle back
far from the other plane
Let this secret stare???
drip from the constant heart ache
don't leave it on ground
until it's done
my mind is blown
it's coming home it's in my eyes
and winner makes a son
the coast is clear
not on my own
I got a sown
I got a ride
Lit from a light weight ???
make from a brittle thing
we got a special ?place?
stuck between a rock and a hard place
don't leave leave it on the ground
go go go go
don't leave it on the ground
go go go go
don't leave it on the ground
go go go go
don't leave it on the ground
go go go go go go

lol cant get over how beautiful Buoy is. wtf. almost certainly gonna have demoitis on this one given this recording is great and the song sounds massive but whatever im down
somewhat similar to the mode hes in on nadir/selfish gene and a few other things, but seems like pretty newish territory for him... like vibes that have always been in his music but a sound that hasnt been so thoroughly explored before... into electro-acoustic hybrid jams

Yeah def. Someone on the sub said he seems to be channeling Avey on it and I can hear it. Also agree that it's folksy sounding, think demonclusters said that. His vocals on it remind me of their There She Goes Again cover.

This material more than any other of Panda's stuff before I can't imagine how it will actually sound in the studio.

When does his solo US tour wrap up? And then the Tongs one? I guess I'm saying if this was only put down with rusty in Jan then it might not drop til July August when he can officially tour it???

Caught him in the Hague here in the Netherlands last night as a part of the Rewire festival. Buoy is absolutely amazing live, the breaks are so loud and the distortion of his voice sounds so damn cool. The Homies songs also sounded incredible, but he didn't play Nod to the Folks. Overall it felt like he cut his set a bit short because of the limited time slot, but still very happy that I was able to hear some of the new songs for the first time live.

i dont think panda typically folllows the "album comes out and now i tour it" cycle that most bands do. i think it could just come out whenever.
that said, if they were just finishing it in the studio, knowing how long domino takes to turnaround releases, i would imagine the fall is the earliest we're getting anything.

I don't think pb was too happy with how long the reaper stuff took, so I think we'll see the studio stuff relatively soon. I think we started hearing about Homes 7-8 months before it came out still, so yeah I think Fall is a good guess.

tbh it’ll probably sound just like it does live, if homies was any indication. if i had to guess, it seems like he wanted this newer material to end up on the album closer to how it sounds live, since (if you ask me) tomboy and greaper sounded very different live prior to the albums release

Him in fall, new Avey we desperately need in early winter (or the summer?) ... full deakin, geo and music box dvd in 2019.. and new full band cycle begins. New psycho actives volume 2.. etc
Ya fuk it I want another surprise summer release like eucalyptus. Mothlight/ new shit plz don't take long. Can't decide if I need studio Buoys or the Mayan more

I honestly thought that after PW they were on a steady decline. I wasn't really into that or Panda's solo stuff, or the Painters EP besides Bonkers. Dave hadn't done anything solo in ages and Deakin spent a very long time on a small number of songs, as great as some of them are. I felt they might have just exhausted every creative avenue together and also that they might not be bouncing off each other as they used to.
I really really couldn't have foreseen what the last twelve months have brought. Everything since the Mothlight show, via MOTW and through to absolutely everything this year, even solo Geo, has been a total mind blinder. I haven't been as excited by their music in almost a decade

i’m hoping it’s early autumn. It sounds like from Rusty, that him and Panda finished tracking the album in early March. And Homies came out less then 7 months after Noah said he finished recording it, so it’s possible BOUYS could be out by late September and we could be hearing freebirds even before then

Homies to me sounds very different from the boots to the actual record; the production imo is completely different.
