nah in their insta picture you can tell that it is actually a black border on the album cover. in the top left corner there's a little bit of the light-colored surface they laid it on

Also this shows the back of the sleeve, there is text on the border edit: not sure if you can swipe multiple image posts on desktop embeds but if you go to the actual post on instagram you'll see what I mean

Yeah, I was wondering if this would be one of those releases where it could give a good idea of what the band is doing in the future, or if it was just a one off (in terms of songwriting, because of course its premise is one off) thats basically what I think when I think "album"

Also Im glad were getting a sort of "official album that could be grouped with their other material but was actually performed live" thing, since hollinndagain was the only one up until this point.

Their EPs have basically 100% given a good idea of the general direction the band took with the albums preceding them...

I guess if you count Honeycomb/Gotham as an EP then it's an exception.

But pretty much unless they're part of the same sessions then they're probably going to sound different between releases. They've been pretty consistent about picking a new direction after the next lineup is confirmed. Maybe in terms of more unconscious similarities or general inspirations but that seems more subjective.

Just won first in line at my local record store ensuring I get a copy! I feel bad though because I pretty much only want to buy this animal collective record. Gonna try and buy stuff for my friends though.

since this is only avey and geo i'm hopeful the weirdness dial will be moved up a peg or two

im sooo hopeful for this release. haven't been that impressed as of late, but simultaneously stripping it back and heading to a fresh environment could do wonders for the boyyysss. i hope we aren't just getting sonic experiments and field recordings... but then again i don't want just want straight songs... pls let this fall somewhere in between
