No worries, I think you bring up a good point
I wouldn't say it's unlistenable, but these two PW jams are what they are. They're outtakes.
I probably will rarely ever listen to them, but I still like that they exist and that the band wants to share with us PW's experimental roots.
These 2 jams, Swallow in the Hollow, and in some ways New Pyscho Actives can all be seen as companion pieces. They're all long form works that blur the edges between a song and an experiment and are all completely distributed by the band. Kinda harkens back 15 years ago to releases like Hollindagain. Even if for some odd reason an EP never emerges from this era, I'll still be psyched that we have all these extra goodies

I disagree, I think these two tracks are way less polished by design than your other examples and suffer for it . I think it has more in common with the stoned acoustic tracks on Crack Box but at least those have a more traditional structure and aren't 20 minutes long
I would love noodling from other eras though, just feelsy tuning jams

I would say Tell It to the Mountain is as polished as these two jams.
But I wasn't necessarily making a comparison between solely the music. This cassette release and the other ones I listed are more "DIY" than other recent AC outputs.
Also I'm saying that Swallow in the Hallow, NPA, and this Drop of Sun Cassette are as much experiments or "sketches" as they are fully fleshed out songs (not that there is anything wrong with that).
And I agree that this cassette is the least appealing of the bunch

I think the point of the two jams on the tape is that the dudes are feeling out what they can do with the instrumentation.
I remember in an interview one of them said the 3 of them would find a sound that felt good and basically fuck around with it for 40+ minutes
I think these tracks are cuts from those sessions

i liked Danny's Jam. I listen to Michael, Remember a ton and have since they released the flower garden banks thing.
agree with the post above - feels like they were figuring out the natural selection tone with the keyboard on Danny's jam

danny's jam is vaguely reminding me of fripp & eno's no pussyfooting album
(a good think in my mind)

Danny's Jam is ok. Not good or bad. Just ok. As far as jams go, I prefer Michael Remember a lot more.

I don't even think it's good as an atmospheric piece though... it's just kind of... mildly irritating

I've not even heard it because mediafire is shit on phone and tablet but I assume that Daniel Jam is the worst AC music to date, based on the bell curve career trajectory, with the peak being somewhere during the fade out of My Favorite Colors (live bonus track).

It's good in parts... but oh man I can't get the YouTube video of Teddy the talking porcupine out of my head long enough to get into it.Somebody was trying to take Avey's corn away. I'm convinced.
These are the perils of having a kid and being an Animal Collective fan.

Go ahead, watch it. Be corrupted.

just got around to listening to this... i love this side of AC
would be really into them doing slow-moving longgg drawn-out songs again --like the HCTI, CS, Hollinndagain era song-structures-- but with their current modular-synth instrumentation

Definitely could be cool, but I imagine that the reason that won't happen is that the band would see it as trying to recreate something that they've already done. That's why I think they made these jams public; to show they still have that side in them
I think it'd be much more likely for them to do a rework of an old, longer song and preform it live with the set up they currently have
