i really like the direction in which he's going.
wow. cannot wait to hear a cleaner version of this.
the bass track of song that he starts crossfading-into at the end sounds so sweet too. really would love to hear it, (+ the rest of the set hehe.)

Hah no coincidence, Hash's brother and I did this.
We were all like "Excuse me sir but have you heard about Hashman? He loves you no matter what and he wants to have a personal relationship with you. Can I give you this pamphlet?"
laughed out loud
it's great being a cult figure

Now then.
I was at ATP, and saw both PB and AT's sets. Whilst waiting for Panda to come on, I got talking to a Spanish dude called Pedro. He had with him one of those Zoom recorders - this one: http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/h2n
He recorded the whole show from the front row, and told me he recorded Avey Tare's set too.
He said he was travelling around Europe for a few weeks before going home, and that he would put the recordings online when he got back. I gave him my e-mail address so he could tell me where he put it.
So everyone chill - Pedro's got this.
It was cool when Noah came on stage and was all like "Yeah... I'm gonna play all new songs, so... If that's not your thing... then maybe this isn't the best place...". Got a huge cheer from the crowd.
Thank you Mojojojojjo!! Pedro sounds like he's the man. If he could send you the lossless files, it'd be better, cause one of us could EQ / Master them!
So pumped to hear Panda's set!! Slasher Flicks as well... hopefully the mix is a little more balance on Pedro's recording

Can anyone tell me what equipment that is? Seems mostly new to me.
Loving the new vibe, not to big on Principle Reel though everything else sounds incredible to me.
Did Panda stop using vocal delay?

This is probably risky posting this, but I did record the show.
However, I spoke to Panda at the bar afterwards and had a really nice chat. I'd never met him before but immediately it was like talking to a good friend. He seemed really humble and a little sketchy about certain bits of the new songs, as they're still in the early stages. I told him that I recorded it and if he minded me putting the show up, he said he'd really prefer me to not upload anything yet for that reason.
So yeah, sorry guys, but I've got a moral obligation to the artist himself not to give this one out. Otherwise if I ever saw him again he'd probably punch me in the face.
So maybe this Pedro guy could do the right thing and hold off as well. Although, if he ends up putting it up, I guess I may as well put mine up if I think it sounds better.

I hope whoever recorded ac at atp 2011 is there and recorded panda's set
That was me.
The gig was incredible, by the way. It felt so great to see so many people around me dancing to brand new songs and really connecting with the show. ATP really is the best festival and it's a total shame that they won't do any more summer ones here anymore.
In other news, I also recorded the Slasher Flicks show and will try and post that up, seeing as there are already boots going around. I've just downloaded Dance Avey's recording and if I can EQ it to be better sounding (which is tough, as he/she/they do a great job!) then I'll throw it up, as it's the same setlist.

I mean we do already have a lot of pbs songs just relatively bad recordings...so we've already heard most of the new stuff if that's the reason you're holding back

Put up slasher flicks regardless! Don't worry about how it sounds compared to ours...it's always nice having different shows with the same set list

Of course Panda is going to say that. Very unlikely would a musician say, yes, put that crappy recording of work in progress online, knock yourself out. But if he thought it was crap material he wouldn't have performed it plus we all love it anyway.

For me - I like hearing the evolution of all their work from the live stages to the released recordings. Some of the MWPP songs were better (for me) in their early stages. And the Banshee/Holiday from 2004 is amazing.
Also - he wouldn't be playing stuff in front of an audience that he didn't want them to hear. And when you factor in "who" is going to take the time to download and listen to the ATP Panda set - it is all people who are passionate fans of the material - the people who will also purchase his next album and all the singles/eps he releases.
But then again - I also understand not wanting to release it after talking with him.

Shaun, I just spoke to Panda Bear and he said that you actually spoke to his Bizarro twin, Wanda Ware, who was trying to keep us from good feels.

that mic is the Shure SM7B.
it is a very articulate dynamic mic, some describe it as a higher-end SM58.

how about instead of posting panda's boot publicly, do it through PMs with a password.
i mean, i'm sure we would all have been there in person if we had the chance! that would have been the best! but for most of us that was impossible. i understand him not wanting to let the recording out to the masses... but this is a small group of people who love noah and want the best for him. sorry i don't want to pressure you too much, that's just my opinion.

boots are part of music culture and have been since they were possible, and more importantly they're a part of HISTORY

yeah and they also depend on the artist being taper-friendly to thrive as a culture. we survived missing the earliest pre-tomboy boots, i think we can make it a bit longer with these. don't release em if he asked you not to and enjoy the fame in 2015 when you finally hook us up

No matter when you release your bootleg, shawn, thank you for recording the show (as well as the 2011 boot) and I look forward to hearing what the concert sounds like.

Obviously, the audio-fidelity of a live performance is going to be a bit superior to what a Zoom recorder could ever capture. Furthermore, an artist may be hesitant to allow his fans to warm up to rough sketches of songs; like, if a listener is disappointed by a studio cut of a certain jam then maybe the person won't make a purchase and decide to just stick to the bootlegs. For somebody whose trying to make a living from performing and selling music, that situation may be one that they want to avoid.

Then why play the songs live? Music is made to listen to. If you can't get over changes between a bootleg and studio version then that's the listeners problem. Some people enjoy hearing the songs develop from a raw place.
I would LOVE to hear this recording! Just excited for new P-Bear

haha guys panda asked the dude not to share the recording.
while ac and deakin are on record with chill taper policies pb doesn't have one posted anywhere afaik, and in this case specifically doesn't want it out there (like the nike 2008 event, although that was at least invitation-only). since i've gone to the trouble of hunting down, documenting, and tagging 13 gigs of boots, i don't really see the point of putting that relationship at jeopardy.
at the same time, i would very much like to hear the recordings—it's just not the case that i'm entitled to them. take it to pk if you've got a problem

for now i'm listening to mp3 rips of those shitty youtube videos anyway, but i understand if he doesn't want to post the boot if the pandaman himself directly requested not to release it.
shaun maybe you could post just a track or two that you think sounds the best as to not completely blue balls everyone? i don't think pander would go against that since it's not an official release

i know this is a difficult situation for ya shaun, but if you were going to post it if that pedro guy did, seems like you could post the songs that we have so far (maybe just the ones that are bad quality). here's what we have so far in case you hadn't seen them posted:

again, dont want you to go against your gut feeling, but if you're just afraid to post the new material it would be nice to have good rec's of what is already out there...
