haven’t been able to stop thinking about the acoustic version of Coral Lords since the Chicago show on Friday. soooo fucking good, such a beautiful rendition of one of my favorite Avey songs :deakweep:

thats one of my favorite avey deep cuts, and i was so excited when he started playing it at the brooklyn show, but the volume of the crowd kinda ruined it for me... it was impossible to focus on it with people having loud conversations all around me :(

I'd almost would've liked if deak n Jeremy came out on this tour. .. overall the show was great! I love the song choices, although the acoustic section felt a little random, nevertheless still wonderful.
My only beef was that I felt the music wasn't loud enough. Idk if it was just the Sleeping Village setup or what but it would've been nicer if it was louder.

i thought the sound at market hotel was pretty rough .... in that "we have a nice system" but the space & way it's being used aren't exactly optimized kinda way. like, the bass is immensely, absurdly loud ... and there are extreme high frequencies but the places where tonal definition is important are kinda lost and muddy..

Just have to say this is such a solid description of the market hotel sound experience. I've been to like rock shows there where it sounds ok but even some of those are rough. When the tour was announced I was kind of bummed that he was playing there but what can you do.

ICYMI in the All Known Live Recordings topic, I uploaded my recording of last night's San Francisco show:

FLAC:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/fv3s0gde ... 6.zip/file

MP3:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/by3qqutw ... 3.zip/file

It was a very good show, with Avey in fine voice and a generally respectful crowd during the music. The older songs were great and the new ones are growing on me. Same setlist as on the first leg of this tour, but of course the songs continue to evolve.

Sick! Thank you for recording!!

From the insta clips it looks like the visuals have changed a bit. The breathing effect on Midnight Special looks insane

Wait what

I didn't take any photos of them, but at the San Francisco show there were two merch tables in the venue lobby. The main one (where most bands sell their merch) had Avey stuff, but there was a small table set up opposite that with some ODDSAC stuff, among other things. I'm sure this was because the film was made by Danny Perez, who opened the SF show as DPSD.

Wow I thought it was a troll. That is so awesome. I do wish it was all psychoactives but still... I'm gonna be so broke after this show lol

From what I saw at the SF and Novato shows there was an Avey table with a purple/pink tie-dye shirt, Down There Vinyl, 7's Vinyl, New Psychoative's Vol. 3 tape. Then Danny had a table for his DPSD project that had a really cool pink shirt, Oddsac shirts (old design), and Oddsac DVD. I talked to Danny and Avey after the show, super cool regular dudes, well maybe not completely regular, but nicer than most people I encounter. Danny's set was really good, had some really nice hard techno moments and cool intense distorted chords. Visuals were mind blowing as usual. 3rd time seeing Avey live and he knocked it out the park as always. Truly a beautiful spirit.

Portland show was awesome. Somebody shouted out “play Doggy” when he switched to acoustic and he stuck it at the end of Coral Lords. Also I shouted out “what’s the new anco album called” and he said “which one?”

Good stuff

Sounds incredible headroom, thanks for the info too. I think I'd be too nervous to talk to Danny or Avey at length lol but I did briefly meet Avey before his '19 Meow Wolf show which was pretty cool. Super nice guy

I’ve been good and only listened to a lil bit of the boots for this tour (when I heard about Chocolate Girl, I couldn’t resist).

Looking forward to tonight’s show. Grateful to get another Avey tour.
If you see a someone dressed as a basic Seattleite in the crowd, feel free to say hi.

Awesome, yeah I was chill approaching Danny cuz he's def a big joker and nice dude. But was suuuppppeerr nervous approaching Avey cuz he's been a hero of mine for 18 years. I think he's used to people "spilling guts" to him and he kinda had a welcoming therapist/long-time meditator vibe to him. I don't think I gushed or anything, but I for sure know I was talking too fast and he speaks a lot slower. I guess I didn't want to take up his time, but in hindsight I wish I went in more chill to match his energy and asked him a meaningful question. Whatever, guess that's a real life interaction, flawed, strange, stupid and earnest.

Also, if anyone wants to buy a Large pink Avey tie-dye shirt PM me, cuz I can't fit it. It costs me $40 but I'll sell for $20+shipping. I also have a white large AC shirt with a trippy cat and mushroom theme, also $20+shipping.

Lol I'm going to imagine him as a therapist from now on. When I met him I sorta felt like I interrupted him, he was watching the opening act and ppl were just walking past him, so I tried to make it as short as possible. I think inevitably it's gonna be a uniquely strange interaction

Wish I could go to Meow Wolf again...

Saw SD show last night, he’s really become like a jazz musician w his voice, so much control and unreal dynamics. Also strangely every song he played from his more recent albums had bits of melody that totally melted me that I don’t remember from the studio versions. Need to revisit. Dub Chocolate Girl was heavenly, but the real treat was Ghost of Books, Down There is one of the albums from my obsessive AC glory days and I was NOT prepared to hear him play that live, I was floored

The quality of the 7s tracks live make me wish they were recorded like that, especially Lips at Night which was already one of my favorites in the studio version but just leveled up significantly live

The show at Lodge Room last night was amazing, Avey absolutely killed it, but man that crowd pissed me off. There were so many people talking really loudly over the music, especially early in the show. Really rude and disrespectful. Some guy blocked my view for part of chocolate girl just so he could take a photo of his friends and kept using the flash. Thankfully Avey was so good that I was still able to immerse myself in the show but very disappointed in the behavior of some fans.
