i can agree that Tomboy was a bit serious and singleminded...that's part of what i loved about it. and it definitely sounds like he's loosening up a bit more on these new tracks, which is a cool change of pace.
but Tomboy's still one of my favorite albums ever

so right avey! With time it gets so fresh.
My friend made a comment that made me realize why tomboy is as good and yet different than PP. It's practically all original sources of sound in that panda is playing the instruments and using very little samples.
Also the tomboy melodies are basically perfections of the best parts of PP (like "Like you're so sure you do" and "stronger and we don't need them" if you listen to PP the samples carry the music and his voice rings out through them. Major difference in Tomboy as his 2 part harmonies form this pillar that is the essential component of the song. So for me it clicked when i centered myself around his vocals and listened to their shimmering shining emotional goodness, and the supporting instrumentals didn't feel as lacking as they did to me.
It also has more hard hitting emotional moments than PP does for me. Everything on PP is fucking perfect and as an album it is incredibly inspiring and encouraging to listen to which is I think what Peezy creezy wanted, but it doesn't have the impactful moments of songs like You Can Count On Me (specifically WHO are you if i'm not up for it?) Friendship Bracelet (don't break ties that hold the ring.... GOD I CRY! he cares so much for his friends

) ) Last Night At The Jetty ( Just as we were... No One could deny... imo his finest vocal melody in terms of craftsmanship)
and the euphoria that is benfica, the first soccer song in a trend of amazing ones
Fo some reason Tomboy, Cosmogramma and Channel Orange blend very very well for me.
In any case this new panda stuff sounds like the culmination of everything he's every done so far and it's the best music i've heard in idk how long. Equal parts the catchiest (way back way back way back) while being still experimental and the most experimental (that beat heavy crazy song where his vocals sound like self titled) while still being incredibly catchy.
Principe real sounds like the dirtiest club song. Can imagine dancing to that covered in everybody's sweat and grime,
the part of the melody where he just sings on the offbeats
so Ii... iIi... iii...
sooo drain
or w/e he says
Can we all just agree that if you don't like something AC related you don't get it? There seems to be plenty of love for just bout every single thing they've ever done, and I know everything i've ever hated on has come back and bitten me orgasmic in the ass.

for some reason i can never listen to just one song on person pitch, i have to listen to the whole goddamn thing from the start.
and for some reason i can never listen to whole of tomboy nowadays. i pick and choose.
why????????

self titled is really easy to listen to and nice
young prayer is a post crying album
person pitch is a wash soup of inspiration and perfect sounds
tomboy consumes you if you let it
no hate on any pb material

I'm not saying we shouldn't have preference or make criticisms. But i think we agree that no one of us can make an objective statement of the quality of an album released by a band/artist known for producing classic material. Especially when so many of their fans who love all the songs you love go crazy nuts for it.
i mean i get it paul mccartney and wings...
but who knows what happened there
idk i just feel like ok keep hating and missing out...
archie archie he so smart

I also found myslef not listening all the way through his first album. I like a couple songs on there, but I have yet to listen to the whole thing front to back.
As for Panda Bear V, I'm looking forward to how he will differentiate from his last 3 albums which are very distinct and unique in their own ways. I'm hoping for a less pop based album (I know it's far fetched, but a man can hope).

So when are us "normal folk" allowed to talk about the songs in this boot that we all know exist, but apparently aren't allowed to talk about? Not trying to stir up controversy or say something I'm not supposed to, I'm genuinely curious.

as far as i know, a boot does exist, it just hasn't been uploaded (by panda's request)
also, feel free to say whatever the hell you want, man! i don't think anyone's got a problem with just discussing the music. dunno where you got that idea.
