So has anyone been able to decipher the lyrics for Panda's rework of Cheap Treat?

"Don't ask why" is the first lyric I can make out.
I think he says "Watch it come on down, it's the end".
And then right after that, before the chorus he sings: "And the cycle starts again, bring it down."
The chorus is something like: "First let me, if you stole[?] its ability, don't act like it went away, another chance to make it clean."
"I want a [????], but only if there's no surprise x2"
That's everything I can get.

My opinion of the remix EP is 'another load of shit AC remixes I'll never listen to more than once'. I like the 'ugh' sample in the Pete Rock 'remix'. Container remix is Fruity Loops 3.7 quality from 2001 when my mum used to wake me up by shouting 'GET A JOB' every morning. The Danny Harle remix gets no further comment. Stott is good, and has nothing to do with the original track. Good if you like Andy Stott. Danny Harle, I can only imagine is good if you like Danny Harle. Say your prayers if you do. The other one is like a season ending injury. Why do they evebeven bother with these things?

lol Stan
If it helps your opinion of him at all, Container is actually all-analog afaik - drum machines, tape loops etc. he's not just a punk kid who downloaded some free music software
also, I'll agree w u that the Pete Rock remix is simple, but... it's Pete Rock!! I mean, the dude flipped the samples for the Jazz (We've Got) beat. He's pretty notable
As for the question of why even bother with these remixes? I know that PB himself says he digs Andy Stott and Container (and probably the other 3 too), so it's cool for fans to get a lil taste of his favorite artists while also hearing a couple of new takes on the Greaper jams. Obviously tho these remixes aren't your thing and that's cool. I don't mean to try and say you're wrong, just offer a different perspective

I'm likely wrong, I'm probably just too rigid in my ways now, even though I feel like I have a good point generally.

Container and Pete rock remixes are dank, but DJ Marfox I can't get into.
Remixes in general I have a hard time finding compelling, but I'm pretty happy with the selection here

I'm not big on remixes either. Can take or leave them unless they blow my socks off.

stan is the negativity king, in the CHz thread I recall a particularly scathing review of Wide Eyed, many many jabs at ben h allen and a worryingly insulting comment about Avey's sickness
It's a nice balance.
Except for that last part.
Come on Stan.

I did also do a re-review of CHz featuring Gotham, Crimson and Honeycomb and removing Wide Eyed, Father Time and Monkey Riches which I concluded was a great album and more in line with what they'd said they were going for. I'm only negative about Jammaster Benny and he's probably a real nice guy at heart. If I am the negativity king, I will abdicate.

I didn't even know Ben Allen produced MPP. That album is fucking SPOT ON. Honestly I'm learning to love the production on Centipede. Of course it would be cool to see a change in producer but I have no ill will towards Ben Allen.

Yeah how could anybody hate the production on MPP? People in here always talk about how he ruined taste and my girls but I've heard the early boots of those two and they sound really similar to the final product

I'm really curious as to what people think of Brother Sport before and after. I came in after MPP and I, of course, adore the song. But I can see myself not digging it too hard (at least at first) if I'd been listening to the boots.
Also, I think it's a whole different kettle of fish listening to the boots after you've listened to the finished product. Personally, I think there's a world of difference between bootleg Taste and album Taste. I'd imagine hearing it on MPP for the first time would've been a kick in the teeth.
In the end though it isn't right to rag on the producer. The band members give the final OK. It's not like they all secretly hate Ben Allen as well cos he ruined their songs. Ho-hup

i found album Brosport to be the one song that was basically RUINED/improved when it first came out. it's taken me years to get over my grief/sky-high expectations for that one. I can dig it now. but yeah, the boot had so much more life in so many ways.

i mostly agree with the above. the avey screams got so muted on the LP version compared to the energy that they had live, plus it also doesn't feel like the song jams out nearly as hard at any point as the live versions and also it ends really quickly. but i remember looking at the track length of the LP version before ever hearing it and already being slightly disappointed that they had cut it down to under 6 minutes. all of that being said, I've grown to love the lp version in 6.5 years, but would still go back to 07 versions any day

I was never really too let down about brosport. While I do agree that the visceral energy of the live version was lost on the album, it was never too upsetting to me. I love the vocal mixing on the album aside from the screams, and the song as a whole is my favorite from the era. Idk I'm over it

I'm terrified I'll listen to the upcoming boots. I both really, really do and do not want to.

Why is listening to boots here considered so dirty?

It's not necessarily considered dirty or "wrong", there's just the very real possibility of listening to the boots too much before the actual album comes out and wearing out the songs
also between the time that AC plays a song live for the first time an the time they record it, they'll often change it up, sometimes drastically. So if you get used to the way a song sounds on a bootleg, u may be setting yourself up to get disappointed by the studio version
This is obvs not true for everyone, I'm sure some can listen to the boots without spoiling the album experience. They're kind of separate worlds imo
