id probably give it an 8/10. i think personally this album did not reach its full potential. i think the best features were cut off to fit the concept/template of the album. the tracks are still fantastic though and definitely worth a listen.

Not trolling. I think Beefheart's music is way ahead of even Zappa's best stuff.

It's two totally different styles of music though. Actually Frank never limited himself to one style to begin with.

I don't think it's any less fair to compare them than most artists. Beefheart didn't limit himself to any style either. There should be a thread for this lol

Spoiler: show
my point in posting willie the pimp is that they both come together in a great way and imo they are both amazing artists. nothing wrong with comparing the two but saying things like "lightyears ahead" or "way ahead of even zappa's best stuff" is obviously going to draw disagreement from zap fans. this is all just "no, my guru is better than your guru" and its just pointless really cause you will always prefer your guru.

I am very excited for the EP but the wait is really killing me. I still jam the ATP boot all the time and that was june 2013. The little previews we've gotten are sweet but my body is ready for the real deal. I am also super curious about what has changed since the boots. Obviously cosplay changed a lot from its original form, and I imagine the same has happened to popadam and old faces.

just the odds of me bringing up gurus(without even realizing it could be linked to beefheart) and then you making the connection is pretty great. You should be pretty proud.

I love that ATP recording... "Dark Cloud" sounds so slinky and minimalist in a cool way. "Ms Pacman" (Faces in the Crowd) is a definite improvement, crazy and like everything's going off the rails around the melody. The songs generally sound... innocent, I guess would be close to what I'm going for. And it seemed like the possibilities were endless.

Damn it I'm starting to get really hyped for this. :)

The eeepeee is a holy new & a seperate animal...
The stuff was substantially done as a seperate stand alone collection.

I guess theres a saying -
'Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.....
.......wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad ....'
-that i think sorta comes into play if I had to explain why ......

....its all Gains-ville ...

the EP has to begin with the 50/50 screaming sample and end with the THX drone.

it also has to come out right now :*

:D :D :D

So the new EP is a different jam to the solid narrative of PBVSGR.... So cool!
The album had such a story to it, these tomatoes are gonna jive in a new way, and im actually thinking party drops for shure :)

Maybe the LA Madonna refers to mixes the almighty St.Pietro did in LA, maybe by the sea too...? Where did he post that pic from?

He also said quite a while ago the boys were all jamming in tobaccy land, those instas mite has been a bit delayed to get us off the scent.... Imma jus guessing

Would love to know petes rig when he's travellin, laptop setup praps? :guitar:

Life is change yo :organicvegetables:

it's track 7/13. It could be argued that it is the second half.
