To those who avoided the boots: I'd like to gather some opinion on how pre-album Come to your Senses fares for ye. It's not just the drop--the song had a way different, sensual vibe. What do ye make of it compared to your first, studio impressions?
Good video below for reference

I didn't abstain from boots, but thinking about it now studio CTYS is a little "shouty" compared to the live sets. kinda like he's yelling the whole thing

Technically this is post-album ctys, at least from the performer's perspective. PB & PeteK finished recording the album around February or March of '14. see here: http://pitchfork.com/thepitch/623-qa-so ... im-reaper/

yep. that's really post-studio pre-release CTYS. what was super different was pre-studio pre-release CTYS. now that had a completely different vibe.

i feel like i only post on here when i have something to share....anyway, if any of you have been to rough trade in new york city you know that they have big posters of recently released albums hanging up around the store. i'd been asking about the pbvsgr poster since they first hung it up and this past weekend...i finally got it! it's over 2 feet tall and it will watch over me while i sleep.

Know of any videos?
Anyways, I'm aware it's post-album but I really just meant... post-album drop.
I definitely prefer the earlier instrumental. Such a jam. Album version is really clunky and robotic. Still a great song but probably the most jarring live-to-studio transition.

I disagree. I think the studio version is the best. Compared to, say, Crosswords or Faces in the Crowd whose live versions are loads better...
Edit: also Selfish Gene. Live version is life changing

The only one of those I agree with is Selfish Gene. But the only reason I agree that, that live version is superior is because Panda puts more emotion into the vocals live. And that's how it should be. Really don't get what people's problems are with studio Crosswords and Faces in the Crowd. Those are probably my favorite studio tracks besides Come to your senses.

Fuck coachella for putting Panda on at 2:55 pm, against Mac Demarco too. This conflict really bothers me, is Panda worth choosing?

I think the man with the mesh shirt and orange face paint is a sort of Grim Reaper figure. He is seen at the beginning, holding the dog's leash, and at the end, just before Dad Panda is attacked. It makes me think that death, or the impulse to attack Dad Panda, is the dog's true master. The dog is inherently violent. But, the dog is a pet, so Dad Panda still probably loves/is sympathetic towards the dog. Which makes me think of what I have read of PB's interpretation of the song-- having sympathy for disease. Disease kills but (at least for bacteria) is another organism trying to survive. They have the same intentions as we do. It is definitely cool to see the dog idea appear again.
